Well, this is disgusting: Docs remove a 50 lb. tumor (gross pic inside!)

DOCTORS in Argentina have removed what they think is the world's largest malignant tumour from the body of a 54-year-old woman.

Weighing a shocking 23kg, the tumour had been growing inside the woman's womb for a year-and-a-half and took four hours to remove, The Daily Mail reported.

Oscar Lopez, surgical coordinator at Gandulfo hospital in Lomas de Zamora, on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, said: "I've never seen anything like it in my 34 years of medical service.

"We removed a tumour whose weight is comparable to that of a four-year-old child.

"In layman's terms, it was as if this woman had been pregnant with quintuplets."

The woman had entered the operating theatre weighing 140kg and returned home 35kg lighter. She is said to be recovering well.

Tumours of the type removed from the woman usually weigh no more than 3kg.

That is astounding that something like that could grow to that size in a year and a half. I expected her to be carrying that thing for 30 years! lol WOW!

I think they simply mean the same type of tumor in the average woman, this being an extreme of that type of tumor.

I think it just means that the woman had a type of tumor that is usually only 3kg, but in her case, it grew much, much bigger.

A tumor that huge... would more grow after this surgery? I see what you are saying because the OP posted "the woman" and not women with her condition. eek Um yeah if my uterus was a prone to 3kg tumors, then yeah, take it PLEASE.

I know a uterus shrinks back into normal position... but wow.... poor woman, can you imagine the stretch marks?!

That's what I was thinking. boxed In fact, a couple of years ago I was certain I had at least a 20 pound tumor growing in me. My dr took one poke at my stomach and said "nope, it's definitely just fat." confused

omfg Was it a fibroid tumor? I had a fibroid tumor removed about 9 years ago, but it was nowhere as big as that one. Yikes!

RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
