Official Offseason Football Thread Training camps and preseason football is just around the corner. I'm ready for some football. A lot of talk has been about the Cowboys and Dez Bryant. Many feel he is one of the pieces that could get them into the Super Bowl. There is also a lot of talk about the Ravens and adding 2 quality receivers in Aquan Boldin and Donte Stallworth plus a good draft that can put them over the top. Keith Bulluck just signed with the Giants and i think that's an excellent pickup that could help turn their defense around especially after what the Panthers did to them on the ground in their final home game. And guess who's up to start the regular season in the new Giants stadium. That's right the Panthers with that running duo of DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart. This year should shape up to be an interesting one as this is the final year under the current NFL CBA. They need to get started on that shit fast. I don't want to see a lockout. As long as Lovie (I can't coach) Smith is running my team. I'm doomed. The Bears have not addressed their OL, receivers, corners and safties, Head coaching, defensive coaching & bad drafting 4 years.

As a Patriots fan, I have mixed feelings going into this year. I think the Pats are destined for another year like the last one. Competitive, but not enough pieces to go all the way.
Of course you can't count out Belicheck and Brady, ever, and with Wes Welker looking strong, that's definitely a good thing. I just think the Pats don't have enough on defense and have set themselves up salary cap and draft wise (two picks in the 1st and 2nd round next year) to really make a splash in 2011.
As much as it pains me to say it, I think the Jets are the team to beat in the AFC so long as they don't have any key guys holding out and Mark Sanchez conitnues to play well wnough to not lose the game.
What I love about football is that every year it seems like there's a new pecking order. And you're right Phunkdaddy, they better not lock out after this year. I know in the long run most of us sheep will come flocking back, but I know many a baseball fan that never came back after the 94 World Series got cancelled.

Giants start training camp Aug. 1st. Biggest question is the defense of course. Not expecting much from Keith Bulluck. Dude's 33 coming off knee surgery.

this was a brilliant move by Jerry Reese. you'll see, he'll play the position better than AP ever did.

It tells me the Giants braintrust isn't satisfied with what they have.

I don't care for your Pats but i must admit you can never count them out. Their like the old Boston Celtics, you have to stick a stake in their heart over and over until their dead. Their defense is a concern but they have some young up and coming talent on defense like Jerod Mayo and they have a lot of young talent in the secondary. I hate to admit it but i don't think it will take very long before this defense become one of the better units in the league again. Their offense is aging somewhat but i think the defense will carry them as the youngsters grow. Yes the Jets look great on paper but you still have to play the game and they won't sneak up on anyone this year. I think Miami is a team the Jets and Pats need to keep an eye on.

Jets are doing a lot of woofin'. We'll see how bad they are after their first two regular-season games against Baltimore and New England.
Bengals are supposedly talking to T.O.'s agent.

The NFC east should be tough as usual. There has been some movement of key personnel. However...Go Cowboys!!!!!!!!!!! 1st team to host and play in the big game. I'm ready!!!!!

no harm in that. they got a VERY talented player for not alot of money. it's all good

This just in - Dez Bryant is a knucklehead.

Why is that??? The carrying of pads, 1st first round sign, or showing up 45 min for practice????

We will see. I've been hearing Dallas in the big game talk for the past few seasons. Don't laugh at my funk

True. But, the Boys are coming of an 11-5 season, NFC east champs, and several returning starters including pro-bowlers. My main concern is the O-line and injuries. There shouldn't be as many drive stopping penalties (Flozell). But, can Free protect the blindside???? That and safety stability. I think they have a good shot and upgraded and maintained a solid unit. Let the games begin!!!!

Rumor is that Bengals owner Mike Brown really wants to sign T.O. Antonio Bryant's injury from last season is apparently lingering. Don't laugh at my funk

If Carson Palmer is playing up 2 his prior all-pro level, look 4 the Bengals 2 set some offensive records this year. Also look 4 Benson 2 run for close to 2,000 yards baring injury.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
That could either raise the stakes in the AFC North this year or either raise Carson Palmer's blood pressure. Don't laugh at my funk

Both. You KNOW those cats will be in Palmer's ear in the huddle after every play.

Steelers sign Flozell Adams to a two year deal. He should help bolster their run game. I know he's a liability in pass protection at this stage but he provides some much needed beef on that offensive line. Now if the steelers can get Maurkice Pouncey signed the o-line can be much maligned. [Edited 7/29/10 21:30pm] Don't laugh at my funk
