This is the only way I can talk right now I got stitches in my mouth... We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Thanks. I had a couple of fibromas removed. Nothing serious, but they were in the front of my mouth, so I can't smile, laugh or open my mouth to eat right now. Talking is painful, too.
The nurse said that the kind of stitches I have will usually dissolve in a week to ten days - but that's if they're someplace (like the gums) where there isn't much movement. She said she'd be surprised if these weren't pulled out in three days.
I'm going to try to keep them intact as long as possible. The only thing that would freak me out more than the stitches would be two gaping wounds in my mouth.
I turned down pain meds when I was in the office - thought I could get by on ibuprofen and Tylenol. I called back three hours later to take them up on the drugs.
Is it weird that Vicodin doesn't seem to make me sleepy? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Ouch!! I hope you feel better soon. The mouth is so tender, that any kind of medical procedure done in there can be painful and unpleasant. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Ouch. Sorry to hear that.
Vicodin doesn't always make me sleepy. I think there are different "mixtures" of it. (I could be wrong about this.) But I think there are varieties that are high in Tylenol, and those that are low in it. Tylenol has little to no effect on me, so the type that is high in it doesn't do much for me.
But I've only had it a few times, so I'm not really an expert.
Get better soon! | |

Ouch!
No spirits or wine for you either..... Get better soon!

Hope you feel better soon, sounds very very painful

rinsing with salty water - was that suggested to you? as salty as the sea tastes
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
No wine...no spirits...no solid food...nothing salty, spicy or acidic...
My biggest concern is getting healed enough that I can talk normally at my job interviews on Friday. At the moment, I talk like a ventriloquist. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

They didn't - but I was thinking about that. That's actually pretty soothing. And I do have sea salt... We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Can you move your lips in order to swirl the water around your mouth? Otherwise.... wear a lobster bib/towel.

they told my husband after he had his wisdom teeth removed to do that, and to use a mouthwash that had some anaesthetic something in it
| |

If I do it gently, yeah. I may just tilt my head so the water runs to that side of my mouth.
The thing I'm really scared of is brushing my teeth. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

go outside, tip head back and shake yourself around - messy but could also be good on a hot day, like being at the beach!

Okay, that reminds me of the Seinfeld episode in which Elaine thinks she has rabies, drinks some club soda, and starts frothing at the mouth. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

can I ask you something serious, about rabies. We don't have rabies here where I live, but you do in USA, right? Over there people wouldn't go and pet wild squirrels and stuff because they might bite, right?

Awwww
Hurry better

Right. It's also why a lot of people get very freaked out by bats. And most parents will teach their children not to approach animals they don't know.
Besides remembering that wild animals are wild animals, no matter how cute they are, you always want to give a wide berth to animals that are doing things that aren't "normal."
For instance, from the windows at work one day, we could see an opossum out wandering around near our parking lot. They're nocturnal animals, so that was bizarre. Plus, it just didn't look "right." It was sort of wobbling around. So we called animal control.
Have you ever seen To Kill A Mockingbird? The dog that Atticus Finch shoots in the movie was rabid. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I don't think I saw it, just read the book.
When we were over there last year, we were hand-feeding squirrels and noticed nobody else was the squirrels were even inside our car they were so cheeky! But they were behaving normally, bright eyed and bushy tailed Not until we got home did we even THINK about rabies!

She answered before I could say she prolly got popped in the mouth for mouthin off to a bigger bitch than her.
Oh the fun I'd have with this if I worked at your office.

Ouch-!
Sorry to hear that. Hope you get better soon!
As for the Vicodin...when I had my kidney stone, they gave me oxycotone. That stuff KNOCKED ME OUT!!! I mean, I was able to take 1 pill to dull the pain and still be mobile...but if the pain got bad & I had to take 2, I would be in bed KNOCKED OUT.
I don't understand how kids can find that appealing. By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

not weird at all...it has never made me sleepy.. in fact it has the opposite effect.. hope you feel beeter soon 'why y'all trying to say goodbye? I didn't go anywhere, I'm right here, im all around you,always..'
in a line from my dream, I heard a voice and saw a silhouette in a chair..

Bummer. I've had stitches in my mouth and it's no fun.
I hope you didn't have to get any on a lip. I did, and they couldn't use dissolving stitches there. The pain when they removed those was worse than the accident that caused the cuts.

One incision is just on the inside of the lower lip. They did use the dissolving stitches there - but warned me that they would probably pull out before I healed completely. That's why I'm being so careful. I want them to hold for a couple days, at least.
They actually told me that if the stitches pull out, I shouldn't come back to be restitched. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Okay, that was torture. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Look what having stitches in his mouth did for Kanye West. You will probably be the only person at that interview forced to think outside the box. I say this is a chance to prove your adaptability. Go get em

That's probably real good advice.
I had stitces on the top of my lower lip, and skin/scabs grew over them - which had to be removed before the stitches could be taken out. I almost passed out.
