Ring 1, 2, 0

Last weekend my wife and I rented out the movies "Ring 1", "Ring 2" and "Ring 0" on DVD (they were the only Japanese-language movies we could find at our local video store and my wife fancied watching something that didn't require her to sit with an English dictionary close to hand!).

Great movies! Not "horror" movies at all, just genuinely spooky and supernatural. Anyone else seen them?

I believe there was an American remake recently, but I think I never ever want to see it.

They are quite good... I am lucky enough to have a PAL converting DVD player so I can buy PAL DVDs and watch them. I have Ring and Ring 2 and they are good... I have not seen Ring O yet though.

The American re-make was okay, but it was not as good as the Japanese original.

God I want to se these Ringu movies. Ive seen the american version and loved it. I hear these are far superior. I hear they ( originals) are very verrry trippy.

Ring 1 and Ring 0 are easily two of my favourite films of all time.

Ring 2 didn't quite have the same appeal as the other two, but it was still okay.

When Sadako comes out of the TV at the end of Ring 1... That is just SO creepy. And then, that same theme is used to even better effect for the end of Ring 0.

The best website (unofficial) for the Ring movies is

Ring 0 was good actually, I thought it was a lot better than #2. Gives a nice bit of background history about Sadako...

You gotta see them RD, great stuff indeed! Aren't the Japanese originals available in the US? If you have a multi-region DVD player I can always post you the region 2 DVDs coz they are available from Amazon in the UK.

I've just watched 'The Eye'. Fucking hell!!! It scared me more than Ring(u).
Another Asian horror, quite similar in plot to The Sixth Sense, but infinitely better and more chilling.
Basically, a woman who's been blind since the age of 2 has a cornea transplant that enables her to see. Unfortunately, she keeps seeing various spirits (a la Sixth Sense) and they are truly terrifying (Came onto the Org just to lighten my mood a bit).
The plot does take a different turn than Sixth Sense and has one of the most tense, spectacular endings imaginable.
Truly scary.

If you've enjoyed the original Ring films, then definitely give this one a try (don't know where it's available - it came out on DVD in the UK this week).
