I can't help it. I just find tall leather boots really pretentious. Maybe since you're in Canada, you can get a way with it more. I grew up in the tundra as well, and we wore boots TO KEEP OUR FEET DRY AND WARM.

Well, now I live in California and they are all over the place. We're talking hottie totties wearing thigh high boots in LOS ANGELES!!!

OK I know they're a fashion statement. But when fashion value moves that far away from use value, it strikes me as ridiculous.

I mean, Bjork can wear a swan around her neck because she's an artist. But thigh high boots in L.A.?

disbelief

I have some vertical striped thigh high stockings which always give me a thrill to wear.

I don't know why the boots bug me so much.

I understand that. Just because I love these outfits doesn't mean I am willing to spend much money on them.

The only time I will spend a lot of money on an item is if I can't find a cheaper version or it doesn't go on sale. I'm actually an amazing bargain hunter. I bought my last pair of designer shoes at 80% off.

If I see something that is trendy and I like it, I'll buy it - I don't care that it's trendy just as if it's 2 or 3 or 20 seasons behind, I don't give a fuck, I'll wear it now...I just like what I like.

What is pretentious to me is people who have to have what is in this second, oh and it must be high end designer and they wouldn't be caught dead wearing anything that was from last season.

Those are the fashion idiots to me.

Yeah, that's the same kind of vibe that irritates me too. Expense in order to conform to some mindless style purveyed by some multi-national corporation. Usually it ends up looking super boring too.

I'm looking forward to wearing boots again.

Boots and sweaters and jackets.

And scarves.

I've got over the knee socks, but my legs are too leggy to wear anything short enough to show them off. lol

Isn't that projecting a bit much? Who's to say that with outrageously expensive boots and the people who buy them, that they don't already donate money to the charities or causes of their choice? Seems like an unfair presumption, on top of the idea that every fashion piece is not for everybody, and people should be free to wear what makes them happy.

Ya Ya fuckin great.

This fall I will be sporting:

Old lady bras for my triple E's.

Jogging pants.

T shirts.

and Flip Flops.

Oh, and a ratty pony tail.

Holla!

I've reached in darkness and come out with treasure
I layed down with love and I woke up with lies
Whats it all worth only the heart can measure
It's not whats in the mirror but what's left inside

I spend a ridiculous amount of money on boots and shoes. Other people buy gadgets and cars. shrug
