Because IMO people separate sex acts from emotional connections. A sexual connection is not necessarily an emotional or relational connection. A BJ can be a connection for others.

But because I want to have sex with someone doesn't mean I feel any connection, to me it means I'm attracted. Pursuing sex isn't also pursuing a connection.
