it depends on my mood

If I run into a lot of people, clubbing these days turns into more of a hang-out experience

but, sometimes, when the music is just right I hit the floor, plant myself in front of a speaker and go crazy

those are always the best nites...

I don't drink, but do dance. There's no other point for me to be at a club.

My dancing is like a cross between Prince, Michael Jackson and Carlton from Fresh Prince of Belle Air.

cut a rug drool wink

It all depends on what kind of mood I'm in. If I have a good buzz I'm usually dancing all night. If I go to the club just because I have to, and I'm not really in the mood, then I just sit and drink.

Jedi, will you come cut my rug?

It depends on who I am with if I dance or not. I usually prefer to people watch and watch those who are dancing... some of them really make me giggle.

I can't count the times I've had people come up to me and
say "do you know that you have your EYES CLOSED when you
dance? Why do you do that?"

I used to wear my sunglasses to raves back in the day, just so people WOULDN'T notice I closed my eyes and feel the need to comment to me that I close my eyes when I dance. They just thought I was stupid or pretentious for wearing sunglasses. wink

Seriously, some of my most euphoric moments have been on the dancefloor. There is absolutely nothing that can beat that perfect moment when you come to and realize you've been dancing your ass off for hours and have completely lost yourself in the music. All this, sober, mind you. smile

After I grew out of the rave scene in my late teens/early twenties, my typical night out was this:
10-11:30 getting ready to go out/pre-bar drinks
12-1 social hour at the club, grab a cocktail or 2, check out who else is out
1-3 dance without stopping, except for maybe some water
repeat at least once or twice a week.

I am now 27 and these days, it depends on my mood, where I am, how good the music is and who I'm with. If I'm not feeling, I won't dance. But I still get my groove on at least once a month. It's good for the soul.

I never grew out of it--our mayor killed the local "rave" scene... for now, anyway. sad These days it's mostly 21+ club events, because they're the only safe haven for dance music in this city.

During the "golden era" (1999-2000), I swore that I'd never go to the clubs, but these days, it's my only choice. Fortunately some of the other "elders" of the scene can be found there too.

Do I dance? Sometimes. I'm not very good, but if the music is good (think jazzy deep or disco house), I might go for it... especially if I've got a pair of glowsticks with me. smile

I may never have grown out of it had it not changed so much around me. When I first started going, all I did was dance, dance, dance till I could no longer stand up. It was about the music and about dancing. Somewhere along the way it turned into being about what drugs you were on, who you knew and what you were wearing. When those days came about, I took my hiatus. I still look back with fond memories, and I still love the music.

I don't drink so I like to just peoplewatch and listen to the music, and enjoy the experience of being around a lot of energy. I'm not a good dancer so I have a better time watching other people get their groove on. smile

That's weak. I can't dance and i am all over the floor. Who gives a phuck what people think about your dancing? As long as you have fun. YOU'RE MISSING OUT IF ALL YOU DO IS STAY ON THE SIDELINES.

I don't think it's weak. I have a good time doing what I do when I do go to a club. I'm glad YOU have a good time dancing and that you enjoy it, but I have fun watching and just being out.

If that makes me weak, oh well.

I know what you're saying. Whenever you've just arrived at

People go "What? We haven't even started drinking yet? Are
you mad?"

They know me too well by this point. They just tell me, "We'll catch up with you out there!" I also usually dance so crazy that I attract either a crowd or some strange looks. Several times I've been asked, "Dude, what are you ON?" Little do they know I've never been drunk or high or anything like that. razz

You're absolutely right there! Sometimes you just have to
stop, take a step back and watch the venue shake. That's
usually a very weird/cool picture and one that you'll
remember for a long time.

Perhaps! Funny dancing story. One night, they played "Pussy Control," "Can't Get You Out of My Head" and "Billie Jean" in succession. Needless to say, I went crazy, dancing incredibly wildly. About thirty minutes later, I left with my friends for Denny's, only to realize there that I had torn a GIANT hole in the CROTCH of my jeans. Good thing I was wearing underwear! In any case, I must have torn it doing this kick thing during one of those three songs, which means I was basically hangin' out for half an hour in the club! redface
