Is Alcide a major character in the books? I'd support a spinoff show about the werewolves of Mississippi on HBO. The Sooki-Bill-Eric triangle is already crowded enough, so, even if Alcide is smokin' hot, it's just one too many people to really be interesting.
Alcide is a major character for one book, maybe two if I remember correctly. He pops in from time to time throughout the remainder of the series though. The Weres eventually become more entagled in the various storylines. It'll will be interesting to see where Alan Ball takes it though.
That's one thing that I always had a hard time with in reading the books. There are just soooooo many characters!
Alcide is introduced in Club Dead (Book 3) and shows up sporatically from that point on. I'm firmly planted in denial |

Didn't Alan Ball say something about were-panthers making an appearance? Is that what Crystal's people are?
I don't trust Crystal. I think she's a trap.
i think so because in listening to the commentary on season 1, jason showed up with a hat that had a panther on it and Alan alluded to it man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81 |

To some degree it's overkill. Why does everyone have to be supernatural?
I also really, really love the books and have to work hard to not compare the show to the books. I'm firmly planted in denial |

I actually started reading the books because of the way Nelsan Ellis portrays Lafayette. It was about 2-3 shows into TB Season 1. I start reading the books. I got to book 2 before TB Season 1 was over and I was like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

which also makes it great that the writers on the show developed the characters more fleshed out than the books and gave them their own storylines etc ..
following the books all the way wouldn't have given us tara so soon and holly so late man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81 |
