What kind of Smart Phone do you have...

What kind of Smart Phone do you have? What are it's pros and cons? I think I'm the last one on the planet without a smart phone. What one do you recommend? I'm even flexible to changing phone carrier because my contract is up.

Ace

iPhone.

Pros: It is supremely awesome.

Cons: It is so supremely awesome that it will make everything else in your life look like the pathetic piece of fail that it is.

I have a Droid Eris (Verizon). I loved the phone until the system update they just did. Now, the browser quits randomly and even the phone part of it is sluggish. disbelief

I did a factory reset, which helped a bit. But I'm still not very happy. I hope they come out with some bug fixes soon.

The G1, LOVE the Android system. I cannot wait to upgrade to the Vibrant.

The only con is since the G1 was one of the first android phones, it has reach the limit as far as upgrade ability goes. This is why I cannot wait to upgrade to the Vibrant, it is newer.

I have the BlackBerry Curve (the one a couple of years old) with Verizon service. It's pretty good--not tons of bells and whistles, but it does everything I want it to do. The one thing that bugs me about it is every couple of weeks, certain apps will lock up or not function. I have to take the battery out of the phone to reset it. It'll take about 5 minutes to boot back up, but will then work fine.

I have an iPhone 3gs.

Pro: I like it better than my 2.5-year-old non-smart phone I was using. For all of the usual reasons. lol

Con: It costs me more per month. Oh well.

I have the Blackberry Bold 9000 with AT&T. I love it. It does everything I need it to do, keep my appointments, as well as act as my MP3 player. I'm completely naked without it. My contract is up next month where I've already decided to check out the Blackberry Torch 9800. nod

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Y'know what? My Razr was the most reliable phone I ever had. I used that bitch for over four years (actually bought another phone and then switched back to the Razr when the other one - a Samsung - turned out to be a piece of shit) and never had a moment's trouble with it. I had to replace the battery once, but batteries don't last forever. shrug

I got the Droid shortly after it came out because I was tired of waiting for Verizon to get the iPhone. (NFW am I switching to AT&T. disbelief ) I like it, for the most part.

Blackberry Bold 9700. I liked it at first, but the OS is deeply flawed. Sluggish and archaic. Apps are a bit on the shite side too. Games are impossible due to the tiny, tiny buttons and not as tiny but still tiny touchpad. Still, all I really want a phone for is to actually phone folk so it works fine. Just another 20 months of my contract to go.

I have an EVO and the only thing I don't like about it is the battery life. It is the best phone I've ever owned.

Mine was reliable too. I had it for 3 years. I dropped it all the time. I even dropped it in a bathtub full of water and it still worked. I changed the battery once. I still use it for my alarm clock.

I do, too.

I love it....

Cons? It's not as Mac-friendly as I think it should.

I have the HTC Hero. I LOVE it, but cannot seem to get Windows Media streams to work properly. Nor can I get certain video files to play properly.

Interesting, my phone did that at first, but Sprint told me it was because I was installing too many apps on my phone. I don't know? I eventually had to rest my phone and buy a larger memory card. That has helped a lot.

It isn't an app problem. I don't have that many and I run Advanced Task Killer regularly. (In fact, since I did the reset, I have fewer apps than I did before - when the phone worked perfectly.)

The browser crash and other issues are pretty well documented. It's the OS - not anything I'm doing.

Just got a new iphone, and it blows away the old iphone I had, the screen is so fine in resolution, and the motion of the interface is smooth... unlike some of the copycat phones out there.

And it takes 720p hidef video!

I have a HTC Dream (aka T-Mobile G1). Huge Android fan here, it's simply the best mobile OS on the market, bar none.

I have it hacked with root/superuser access, which enables me to run the latest version of the Android OS - 2.2 aka FroYo, which is the same version running on the new Droid-2, the Nexus One, etc.

Once you get root access there's so much more you can do with your Android device.... sky's the limit!

Of course, because the G1 is almost 2 years old now, you have to overclock the processor so it can run the new OS smoothly, but that's no big deal. Overclocking decreases the battery life somewhat, so I just bought a bigger capacity battery from eBay lol Problem solved.

I do have an upgrade due, but since I require QWERTY keyboards, I've just been waiting for something that really catches my eye. Luckily, HTC are bringing out the HTC Vision next month, which is a new Android super-phone with a full QWERTY keyboard. So I will probably get that.

btw Genesia, the bugs on the Eris are specifically on that device, not on the Android OS.

My friend who lives in Chicago and had an Eris, complained to VZW just last week and they sent him a brand new Moto Droid as a replacement.

So my advice, call up and complain and see if they'll offer you something new. If you want me to find out exactly what he said to them when he called, I can ask him.
