Chelsea Clinton´s wedding gown.

I think it´s beautiful.

Yeah, I prefer a softer look for daytime. I think I would have preferred Hillary in a royal blue rather than the dark red too.

Anyway, Chelsea and the hubby look lovely...best wishes to them.

I've done my share of bridal makeup so I get having to go a bit dramatic for your face to read well in the pics...It's not even so much a bout day/night for me, I just have a personal preference towards doing either a strong lip/softer eye or dramatic eye/lighter lip combo.

It's the same way I prefer statement necklace/small earrings or big earrings/no necklace.

Where did you get that. It´s hard for me to believe. I mean, what could have cost that much money about it?

I was also (pleasantly) taken aback at the simplicity of the decorations. Plain white chairs, not a trillion floral arrangements decorating them. It all looks very tasteful.

BTW, did anyone see Hilary arrive to the wedding in her designer caftan? I was kinda mad that she didn't wear a more flattering shoe with it, but it was very Fashion-Week-I'm the Mother of the Bride-Arriving at the Estate for final hair and make-up before the big event . we get so used to Hilary in her damned Capitol Hill asexual Scorpio pantsuits I was relieved to see that Oscar got ahold of her and brought out a little inner glam nod

Her parents are wealthy, so it's not hard for me to believe at all.

The last wedding I went to in May was the middle class children of African and German lawyers, nurse, one parent deceased, the bride a law student and the groom a mid-level production coordinator for film. Simple no frills wedding at our church with no after activities, but a 400 person reception later in the evening, easily 100,000 Euros. Maybe more, considering they partied open end at the Mozartzäle Concert Hall for the reception.

Although there was only a champagne opener (no hor'deuvres), the buffet was cold and hot variations, with everything you could possibly want for a feast. There was minted lamb, roast chicken, chicken in marsala wine, roast beef, shrimp, lobster, roast pork tenderloin, antipasti, a million veggie sides, traditional Hamburg specialties (smoked Salmon, different versions of hot & cold potatoes, dilled cucumber salad, herring) I don't know how many other rices, fishes, salads, plantains, African specialties, extensive cheese plates, fresh fruits, dessert cakes, tortes, chocolate fountains, coffee, tea, mousses, sweet creams, and so on ad infinitum.

The most expensive part of a wedding is the food and the flowers. There were few to no flowers in decoration, but they spent money on wedding favors for the guests (the matches, the hankerchiefs, the little takeaway glasses). Relatives and friends were flown in from Ghana an all over Germany, so you have to think of ticket prices and accomadations. In the case of a public family like the Clintons, (former President involved no less), you will add an even higher cost for Venue rental, accomadations for friends family & guests, extra security against intruders or paprazzi, the clothes for the bride groom & attendants...rings, gifts for your attendants, the cost of clean up crews, outside assistance...it's all just staggering. The thing is, until a person actually has to plan their own wedding and realize just how many details you have to take care of, you just don't realize how much it all adds up to be...here was the concert hall where my friends had their reception.

As a stylist, you can imagined that my attention to aesthetic was a bit thrown off because for all the prestige affiliated with holding a private event here, I hated the dinner chairs (dark velvet) and was really irked that the table cloths had fold prints in them...but can you imagine how much more it would have costed for them to have all the tablecloths steamed/ironed, and have those chairs covered in white canvas (which would have been aesthetically delicious in my opinion, but hey...)

Still, even the smallest of weddings end up costing a pretty penny unless you get people to donate the food and you get a free reception venue.

Back in 2004 when I started planning mine, with only a 175 person guest list and everything, it was going to be about $27,000.

I ended up not marrying that fool, but I learned what it takes to put together a wedding. So if I ever find someone and decide I actually want to marry, I don't think I'll have a big ceremony.

If that's what she wanted, I think it's wonderful. She looked beautiful and happy.

I have just lost the desire to spend on a wedding.

Those are estimates. They stated $3million as a high guesstimate for the press. Only the Clintons and their coordinator know the real figure.

lol ...and considering how broke-ass folks living in tiny apartments are dishing out tens of thousands of dollars on weddings and sweet sixteens (!!!) then a few million for the Clintons doesn't sound too far off.
