I know what area you're talking about. We drove by there yesterday. I like looking over there watching the people on their boats

There's a Hard Rock Cafe there that is packed w/ awesome stuff. The Kennedy stuff is a must see. I went on the tour through the book depository, and it was surreal, and humbling. I could have spent many more hours in that whole area, looking at the grassy knoll, the driving path, seeing the whole thing reply in my head, and wondering about it all. I wasn't even alive when it happened, and it was still defining thing in my life.

Dallas is rich in history and entertainment. It's the twin cities of the south. Dallas tends to me more cosmopolitan than Ft. Worth (much like Minneapolis is against the boring St. Paul area).

I live in Dallas also. It's a very nice area....just S P R E A D O U T!

Downtown Dallas, you have the West End, American Airlines Center (which is attached to Victory Park). Ernest mentioned the Hard Rock (which is near Victory Park). We have LOTS of restaurants in the Victory Park/Uptown/Oak Lawn/McKinney area of town that are very well known. Tom Collico (from Top Chef) has a Craft restaurant here.

You can also hit up the Fort Worth Stockyards and Sundance Square. Fort Worth is such a beautiful city and has a great prescence about it.

As for lakes, there are a few. I live near Joe Pool lake. It is one of the most popular for water skiiing, boating, etc. Rockwall and Lewisville lakes are also great. I recommend Joe Pool more because it has such beautiful hiking trails and nice parks. We have a LOT of "celebrities" that come to Joe Pool. Kelly Clarkson is always spotted there. So is George Bush Jr.

We also have some nice shopping. There are a few outlet malls in the area that are great for shopping. The best one (to me) is in Allen (about 20 miles North of Dallas). They have everything from Coach, Nike, Reebok, Puma, etc. We also have Grapevine Mills (in Grapevine, TX which is by the airport). Grapevine Mills is a BIG outlet mall. It is always busy, but has some great stores. Nike, Off 5th (Sak's outlet), Neiman's outlet, and more.

In the town of Grapevine, we have some really good wineries. There are also some nice restuarants in Grapevine. Great Wolf Lodge and Gaylord Texan are both there in Grapevine also.

Arlington is also in the area. There, you can tour the new Cowboys Stadium. Near there is Ranger stadium as well as Six Flags over Texas.

There is a LOT to do. I hope u enjoy your stay.

Campisi's Egyptian Restaurant on Mockingbird. Don't let the name fool you - it's an Italian restaurant.

I think it has the absolute best pizza in the whole wide world!

Oh yeah, the Cowboys' stadium. If you have the time and like sports, take the tour. But buy your tickets in advance - the tours sell out. You can buy them on Ticketmaster. We took the guided tour, which I recommend.

And bring or buy a football. They end the tour by letting you go on the field, and you can stay there as long as you like! You can throw passes, kick field goals - whatever. But you need your own football.

That stadium is absolutely mindblowing.

OK, I've got to quit typing a new post for every idea. Let me see if I can think of the rest of them.

1. The SMU campus. Of COURSE you have to visit it. You need to see where RodeoSchro and ThreadCula matriculated! Walk the campus and feel our vibes! Plus, it's a beautiful but small campus, so it's not a time-consuming deal. If you want some SMU gear (and who doesn't?), the Barnes and Noble on Mockingbird has a great selection of stuff.

2. Joe T. Garcia's in Fort Worth. Best Mexican restaurant in Texas, IMHO. It's kind of off the beaten path, but it's a must-see if you get to Fort Worth. There's also a couple Joe T. Garcia's in Dallas, but it's not the same.

3. The Mansion on Turtle Creek. This is where all the rich, old-money Dallas people go to drink and sometimes eat. Have a drink in the bar and feel good about the fact that there's probably $1 billion in net worth surrounding you.

4. The Potter's House. If you want to see the greatest speaker I've ever seen, go to church services here and listen to T. D. Jakes preach. This man is unbelievable. If I lived in Dallas, I would go to church here every Sunday. Be forewarned though - the service lasts 2 1/2 hours (about 9:15 - 11:30). But you'll feel like it went by in a flash. And the music is UNBELIEVABLE. The horn section is as good as any that Prince has had.

5. NorthPark mall. Now, this information is old, but in my opinion the best shopping in Dallas is at NorthPark mall. Dallas has a Galleria but it is LAME. The best stuff is at NorthPark, or at least was.

Dallas has a LOT of high profile ministers and churches here. The Potter's House is probably the best known, but Dr. Freddy Haynes' Friendship West Baptist Church is just as nice. Also Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship where Dr. Tony Evans is the pastor. He and George Bush are really good friends and GWB has been to his church to speak on several occasions.

I met a guy at the ONA show in Dallas from Norman.

I haven't been up there since my friend graduated from OU. Not a bad town.

I'll just throw this in as a suggestion since you have belly dancing listed as a hobby....

There's a restaurant called Al Amir that has belly dancers and if you stay late on the weekends, there is a section that turns into a nightclub and you can do your own belly dancing! It is in Dallas on Greenville Ave. They opened a 2nd location in Addison, but it's not as fun IMO.

I think you might also really enjoy this great vegetarian Indian-themed restaurant, Cosmic Cafe. It has wonderful food and the atmosphere is really unique. They even have a yoga and meditation room upstairs. It is in Dallas on Oak Lawn Ave.

It is fun to tie up on any of the lakes in the Dallas area, too. You attach yourself to the other boats and have like a floating party. If you do that, I would suggest making up some jello shots. They are easy to make (jello mix, 1 part water, 1 part vodka) and you can throw them to people on other boats and make a bunch of "friends."

The lake near Rockwall is probably Lake Ray Hubbard, which is fun. I think they have concerts out there every Sunday. Another "party" lake is Lake Lewisville. Just be careful, because the lake police will be patrolling and verifying that you have at least 1 life vest per person on the boat and checking to make sure the boat's captain isn't drunk! They really do check....

Here is a link to a website that you can check for any activities during your visit or get info on restaurants, etc. I have lived in Dallas 25 years and still check this site when I'm trying to decide what I want to do for the weekend! www.guidelive.com

I hope you like our city! Be warned....it is hot hot hot right now!
