Can You Stay Away From Your Computer?

I mean .......... take a break from using it.

How many days/weeks have you been able to take a break from the org?

How many days/weeks have you been able to take a break from your computer completely?

What have you done with your time off of your computer or the org?

Do you find it hard to stay away from using your computer or accessing the org?

Thanks to insatiable3 for this idea biggrin

I don't have internet at home, so I tend not to use the computer at all on weekends. It's actually very healthy, except for the fact that I use computers too much at work.

I dont think I could cope without a computer or to be more exact access to the internet, I probably could go a day or two but as soon as I know I cant go online I hate it. Its weird I guess I have got so use to being able to access it almost whenever I want it really annoys/upsets me when I cant.

I do wonder whether I should just take a break or try to but I dont think I could manage without it.confused

How many days/weeks have you been able to take a break from the org?

Months and I'm still not around much.

How many days/weeks have you been able to take a break from your computer completely?

One or two weeks on vacation, but then I still got my iPhone.

What have you done with your time off of your computer or the org?

Vacation, being with friends, just being busy doing other stuff.

Do you find it hard to stay away from using your computer or accessing the org?

It's not hard because I never really try to stay away from my computer, just happen to use my computer a lot and for many different things. Don't watch much tv and whenever there was something on that was worth watching, I check it out online.

How many days/weeks have you been able to take a break from the org? I haven't felt the need to take a break. I only check the sight once a day.

How many days/weeks have you been able to take a break from your computer completely? I usually don't get on the computer until 5:00 or 6:00 everyday.

What have you done with your time off of your computer or the org? Errands, housework, walking my dog, enjoying the outside.

Do you find it hard to stay away from using your computer or accessing the org? I use to,it got to the point where I felt like I was addicted to it,and that really concerned me,because I really did'nt feel it was physically or mentally healthy for me. That's when I started only going on during the evening. smile

When we travel I generally don't log on.

On weekends when Ron is home keep it to a minimum.

My new title at work require me to be in on a computer a lot, and as someone used to working in the feild I am finding this thing is very additive. I'm finding myself spending much too much of my time goofing off on sites like this instead of pretending to be working by walking around with a clipboard and a cup of coffee chatting like everyone else. smile

I use my laptop from work. I work from home calling prospective clients. It can be a soul destroying job at times, and to help keep me motivated, I log onto the org between calls, post, then back on the phone. Keeps me dialling.

Last month I went on holiday to the Gran Canaria for a week. Took my iphone, but switched of roaming. no emails, no internet, no work related annoyances for a full week. Didn't miss it one bit.

I tend to go in waves with the org. Sometimes it's a good laugh, and I enjoy chatting with certain people, other times it's just a big fammy nightmare. I didn't come on here for a week when 20ten was released. Made up my own mind about it before seeing what others on the org had to say. That was definitely a good thing to do.

blah blah blah

When I'm at work, it's hard - our asset management system is kind of slow, so I'll look at the web for a minute while that's working, etc.

In the evenings, it's not that hard to stay away. I'm rehearsing a play right now, so I'm frequently away from home (and the computer) in the evening. And on the weekends, I have to do all the things that I can't do in the evening right now - cleaning, laundry, cooking. If there's any time left over, I like to go for a bike ride or play golf.

I've also stopped taking a computer on vacation. I can check email or read stuff online via my phone. In May, I went a whole week without checking anything but email. It was pretty nice, actually.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I could never stay away from my computer for more then a few hours, and then I am on my iphone checking stuff. From the org, I can go away 2 weeks at a time and not blink, but from facebook....never more then a couple hours away, unless I am asleep. cool

I've accepted that I spend most of my time in front of a computer.

It's not just for fucking around though. Most of my jobs have also involved sitting in front of a computer, I record music with it and also read a lot of stuff on the screen.
