all up i think we spent about $3,000 on our wedding, reception/honeymoon/pics/dresses etc included.

we got a good price on meals/drinks...not cost, a fair mark up was made/staff to be paid etc.

this was 16 yrs ago, but even then it was classed as budget..i couldnt justify/afford spending tens of thousands on one day

At the time I was 37, and soooo excited to FINALLY be getting married! I wanted that whole "Princess" thing I'd dreamed about since I was a little girl- with my own flair.

Yeah, well...

I don't think I'll ever get married... but if I do, I do not want to spend that kind of money:

1) to feed people who came to be nosy because I'll have actually made it this time

2) I'll be too old to play "princess"

3) I'll need the money for my retirement fund by the time I find someone.
