Technically, cotton is a fiber - not a fabric. geek

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I remember that commercial on TV. Wasn't it Aaron Neville who sang it?

RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

A lot of people have sung it. It's still inaccurate. hmph!

giggle I seem to remember the person singing the commercial to be Aaron Neville (since he has a very distinct singing voice). But I could be wrong.

RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Okay this is the commercial that I remember from the 90's, and it's definitely Aaron Neville singing it:

But Genesia is right, there are other videos sung by different singers, and it seems to be the same song (or similar).

RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

all righty! this thread is just what i need to rant about this cool blanket i have~! it is so lightweight it's almost like a cobweb, yet, it's sufficiently warm enough that i need only one layer to keep me toasty mushy

true, it ain't cotton. but, in a way it is cotton's funky urban cousin. therefore, it's suitable for mention on this thread.

i love my blankey~!~!

lol I was just going to put that...it doesn't sing as smoothly that way.

The touch...the feel...the fiber that's been woven into a cloth...of our lives...

I'm firmly planted in denial

I tried to find a list of all the people who sang 'The Fabric Of Our Lives' over the years.... no luck. Can't find a complete list. Richie Havens was first, Aaron Neville was second. Miranda Lambert was the voice in 2009. I can't find much solid information for the years in between. But there have definitely been a lot of other people. The dark, dusty files way in the back of my brain are telling me that I remember Willie Nelson singing it.

Also, the Wiki Cotton page says "fiber" over and over. Almost likey they're annoyed by the song, too. lol

Isn't there a cotton industry website somewhere? Who was the sponsor of the commercials? You ahould be able to contact them to find out.

lol Don't even get me started on that doggone song. Ever since I saw it as a little girl, I can't even go shopping without checking the fabric labels or brushing my face against something cotton-ish. I'm trying hard right now not to break out into song...
