The most God-awful movies you've ever seen..

OK, here's the deal. I have a friend who is about to have surgery on his anckle. For the next month, he is going to be completely bed-ridden and I will be watching his kids. I wanna torture him by putting the worse movies ever made into the VCR and leaving him to suffer. So, what movies do you recommend? I already have Graffiti Bridge in mind so no need to suggest that one. What else would you recommend? Yes I already know that I'm a complete a$$hole, but that's part of the fun. So what do you suggest?

Anybody who lists Avatar or Titanic as one of the worst movies they've ever seen is trying WAY too hard to be the cool contradictory guy in the room. Either that or you've seen a grand total of less than ten movies in your entire lifetime. I'm not saying they're the best, either. But they don't come close to being any kind of worst.

Of course, it really depends on what your friend's standards are in order for us to provide our lists.

But I think I am on very safe ground to provide you with these absolutely mind numbing movies.

Alone in the Dark (starring Christian Slater and Tara Reid) I actually own this movie and watch it once a year to remind myself that anything is possible. Just sit back and soak in the badness.

Highlander Part 2 - Seeing that part two really had absolutely nothing to do with part one, just go ahead and drop your friend right into the middle of ther lion's den with this one. It redefines horrible.

2012 - I like John Cusack, but holy shit was this movie horrible.

Okay, I have seen hundreds of movies, and I think Titanic is horrendous. I HATE that movie.

That said, I think the worst movie I've ever seen is Noises Off. In fact, that movie is so bad, I didn't audition for the play when a local group did it a couple years ago.

Good thing, because the play got terrible reviews, too. lol

Titanic can't be one of the worst on technical merit alone. The second half of that movie in particular is spectacular in it's technical execution.

I see a couple hundred movies a year, easily. There are b-movies, C-movies lol , horror movies and small indie movies made every year that go straight to DVD and are seen by almost no one. Those movies are HORRIBLE. I find it very difficult to place anything made within any of the major studio systems around the world into the category of "worst I've ever seen". If I had to, though, Battlefield Earth would most likely be near the top of the list.

Noises Off... The Peter Bogdanovich movie? eek lol Dang. Havent seen that one yet, now I'm wondering if I should.

And seriously. Se7en and Children of Men!? Worst ever?! COME ON! lol I'm not sure I'm going to be able to take this thread without my head exploding.

I didn't actually read the OP. I thought we were just naming movies we thought were god-awful. So my suggestions probably won't work for his plan.

Still: 7 sucked. Totally. And SATC 2 is indeed torture. I will put that up against ANY b-movie you want to name. And while the style in Titanic was very well done, the substance was not and I considered it terrible.

And I don't give a fuck what anybody says: Children of Men was like ass on a summer day.

I beg to differ..

I have seen plenty of movies, very BAD movies, and in all honesty id rather slide bamboo shoots between my finger nails than sit through that 3 hours of this sap again. Don't judge people so hastily, sure you can contradict an opinion, but i have my reasons for not liking Titanic as much as the poster that said "Avatar"<---which i think is awful myself too.

Without getting too long winded on the matter, a few reasons i disliked that film was that i felt this was a big big sellout for the director who gave us Terminator and Aliens. He has followed suit with Avatar(crap remake of Fern Gully which wasn't even a good film) and i was so happy to see Hurt locker take it to the cleaners. Cameron, a great director, but if he insists on releasing huge budget garbage that appeals to the masses, I have every right to hate his releases. Throw Celine Dion into the equation and there you have the perfect stew of tripe, slow roasted for three painful hours. Hey if you like it, all power to you, but if you were to name a few films you "hate" im sure i can name a few more reasons why i don't hate it as much as Titanic, Jackass.

do you think I appreciate being branded with judgmental remarks such as "trying WAY to hard to be the cool contradictory guy", talk about double standards.

Get over yourself you egomaniacal, self-centered, asstard. People make statements like that online all the time. It's called an opinion - which you clearly know something about. It wasn't directed AT YOU, or at anyone else specifically. It wasn't within the body of a quote. Right? It states "anybody" because that's MY OPINION about people who make nonsensical hyperbolic statements regarding Titanic and/or Avatar being "the worst movie ever". If you needed clarification or wished to further discuss it all you had to do was ask, or say so. It's what's commonly knows as manners. And you should really work on yours.

highfive

Here's my thing with Titanic: there are so many great, true stories linked to the sinking of the Titanic. Why super-impose some silly, sophomoric, mall-rat love story on top of it?

I am not someone who gives a rusty about special effects. I want a story - and it had better be a good one. That is what a movie is supposed to be.

That said, there is a version of Titanic I like...

The Forsaken - a shitty attempt at a "hip" vampire film.

Daybreakers - the whole thing winds up being a blood orgy.

And I agree with the sentiments about some of these big name films being called the worst. I hate the Harry Potter franchise with a passion but to act like its the worst movie I have ever seen would just be me lying to myself.

S'cool. I respect everybodies opinions regardless of how vehemently I may disagree with them. I'd love dicuss movies further with y'all, because they're something I feel quite passionate about. But I think this thread is probably the wrong place for me to do so. Because for me, "the worst movie ever", is a very extreme statement. One that I don't think could ever apply to a vast majority of the films listed so far (some of which are considered classics, modern and otherwise). The Room and Battlefield Earth, though, maybe. lol

Anyway, apologies for the strong reaction to unnecessarily being called names for expressing an opinion. I just have no patience for that stuff anymore. It's the internet, learn how to behave like you know what you're doing, already.
