Saturn=Cronus

Roman-Greek

Saturn (Latin: Saturnus) was a major Roman god of agriculture and harvest, whose reign was depicted as a Golden Age of abundance and peace by many Roman authors. In medieval times he was known as the Roman god of agriculture, justice and strength; he held a sickle in his left hand and a bundle of wheat in his right. His mother was Terra and his father was Caelus. He was identified in classical antiquity with the Greek deity Cronus, and the mythologies of the two gods are commonly mixed.

Cronus or Kronos[1] (Ancient Greek Κρόνος, Krónos) was the leader and the youngest of the first generation of Titans, divine descendants of Gaia, the earth, andUranus, the sky. He overthrew his father and ruled during the mythological Golden Age, until he was overthrown by his own sons, Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon, and imprisoned in Tartarus.

Cronus was usually depicted with a sickle, which was also the weapon he used tocastrate and depose Uranus, his father. In Athens, on the twelfth day of the Attic month of Hekatombaion, a festival called Kronia was held in honor of Cronus to celebrate the harvest, suggesting that, as a result of his association with the virtuous Golden Age, Cronus continued to preside as a patron of harvest. Cronus was also identified in classical antiquity with the Roman deity Saturn.

Right, so, what does this have to do with Uncle Phil being the King of Hell?

Yeah, I've never heard of Saturn being tied in with Satan? Not by Pagan standard at least.

I dunno what those damn Satan-worshippers are saying these days though, lol.

But let's go with Uncle Phil as the King of Hell -- I can dig it. lol

Unfortunately, when Will Smith had a CHANCE to be in a vampire movie, they changed them to these bizarre zombie things. confused

"I Am Legend" was originally a vampire novel, made into 2 other movies: "The Last Man on Earth" with Vincent Price and "Omega Man" with Charleton Heston (crap! Pure crap!). At least Vincent Price's version followed the book.

disbelief

dayum, chocolate1 droppin some lit' on dat schitt

I read "I Am Legend" by Richard Matheson... and owned the other two movies. I was so annoyed when I saw Will Smith's version. And the alternate ending made me want to go looking for him. mad

I don't get the mania, though? Leave it to hollywood to make a tired, worn out, boring redundancy out of a once cool thing.

And no matter how we feel about it, people will eat this up in a heartbeat.

For real!

I've been into vampire movies FOR YEARS!

I've been reading about vampires- fiction and supposed non-fiction- for as long as I remember. I have both editions of the "Encyclopedia of the Undead" and have checked off the movies I've seen in the back.

Now my interest has turned into some weird cult thing that makes it look like I'M following the trend. pout

Don't talk to me about Anne Rice, and DON'T EVER try to discuss "Twilight" with me. talk to the hand

I like to see what new ways vampires can be portrayed, but most times I'm disappointed due to Hollywood's sensationalism. There are THREE TV shows on right now that have vampires... rolleyes

(Okay, I like "True Blood" wink)

Oh! Like I said in the earlier post, Will Smith ruined the last opportunity he had to do a vampire movie. No more. NO. hmph!

i agree with you.

i'll even go farther--as to say that anne rice was the one that ruined vampires.

for me personally--the best vampires were Nosferatu and Carmilla.

but in particular Carmilla!--although i hated the ending of that story.

there was a period in my time--when vampires were big with me... about in elementary school...you know stuff like Lugosi--i like and still like kitsch/campy vampire stories-

because their funny!!!

on the other hand my cousin has introduced me to a new(not really new) horror genre--nazi zombies
