Uh. I don't know. This annoys me too. Does anyone watch the MTV show that deals with teenage pregnancy. During the most recent season, the girls said that they got pregnant because they didn't use birth control properly or they weren't using birth control at all. Only one person said that she was using birth control properly and still got pregnant. I think it's ridiculous that kids are more honest about their mistakes than the adults are. There are a few exceptions to the rule, but birth control works for most people when it's used properly. I wouldn't mind it so much if adults would just be honest and say they did something stupid and have learned from it and move on. I guess people are ashamed of their behavior, or they're worried about what other people will think, so they lie/exaggerate.

BTW, why is it so cool to brag about your sex life until you get pregnant? People rush to lose their virginity as soon as they come out of the womb and brag to anyone who will listen about their wild sex life. But if they get pregnant, or if someone wants to know how many sex partners they've had, they transform into the Virgin Mary. Everyone knows you're a total hedonist, so don't front.

Maybe this type of behavior is now ingrained into the American culture. Our society is a very sexual society, but the mainstream has a very unhealthy attitude towards sex. Sexual responsibility isn't the message that society gives us. Does this type of attitude only exist in the USA? Can some of the non-Americans make a comment?

That MTV show "im pregnant" shows the misfortune of having a child by mistake and fortunatley they are talking about it. it is not some fun magical thing to have a child its HARD WORK. After the smiles and laughs and stuff your behind have to TAKE CARE of that baby....its not some means to keep a man or live the American Dream. This is not the 1950's anymore. Wake up and be smart! That goes for all protection. What about disease let alone a baby!

accidents happen and there are times when all the prevention in the world doesn't, well...prevent shit.

like I said earlier, the type of people the op is talking about have issues that go beyond being unfit, unprepared parents...the poor kid is just one of a long list of their fuck ups ...that's their shitty lifestyle, not a one time screw up...

there are plenty of people that have what we're refering to as accidents that never let their one time slip up continuely afffect themselves or anybody else in a negative way...

My 2nd baby was an accident. DH and I were told we couldn't have babies, our eldest daughter was an IVF baby, so we never bothered with contraception then BLAM! Preggers.

I was married when I had all 4 of our boys. None of them were accidents, suprises maybe but accidents no. And my younger 2 are proof that birthcontrol is NOT 100%.

My third baby was a surprise!

Well according to the gynecologist I had 1 in a million chance of falling pregnant without help…

and after 8 years of not using any contraception…

well it happened, and I would never change that …

I love my girls, the planned ones and the surprise!
