Beavis and Butthead To Return To MTV

This just in - confirmed by The Wall Street Journal and HuffingtonPost.com, the iconic yet moronic animated musical satire show, Beavis and Butthead is slated to return to MTV with new episodes. With the days of actually playing music long gone - Music Television is looking for new scripted shows, with Beavis and Butthead having specific appeal to Generation X viewers who never really got enough of their poignant commentaries on music, style and culture.

Created by Mike Judge (King of the Hill, Office Space) who has a degree in physics - on the surface Beavis and Butthead looks like a show for people who are truly mentally deficient, but upon more careful study, the show is pretty sophisticated yet hilariously immature. While Beavis and Butthead never end up living out their rock and roll fantasies or entrepreneurial goals, they do deeply care about music (how many high school kids can you say that about today) and are willing to get passionate about it. This isn't content from the "whatever" generation. Beavis can get excited about a heavy metal video that has a toilet in it to the point of nearly going into a convulsive fit or launching into his alter ego The Great Cornholio who is even more enthusiastic. What he will have to say about hacks like Lady Gaga, AutoTune and the pathetic state of music today is a voice that needs to be heard and heard loudly.

With The Sopranos off the air for good, that leaves maybe Entourage as the only appointment viewing that I am willing to commit to. I don't even know where MTV is on the dial on DirecTV and if having grown up as an Italian American in Philadelphia - I don't need a reality show to illustrate to me what goes on down the Shore. We went to Wildwood, New Jersey in the summers. Need I say more? The return of Beavis and Butthead is not just great news. Forget the oil spill (but not the episode when Beavis and Butthead were selling sludge to Mr. Anderson as "black gold"); there is a beaming light at the end of the tunnel. There is a reason to watch TV again and this time there's somebody with something to say who's smarter than Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly. Beavis and Butthead are back and all of us kids who refused to mature past, say, 10th grade are fired up about it.

excited This is going to sound funny, but reading this just made my day!! woot! yay!

Speaking of Beavis and Butthead, during a recent family vacation, my brother and I were joking around. I was doing my Beavis imitation, saying, "Fire, fire, fire!" My sister-in-law was laughing at me, saying, "You sound just like him!" lol I guess watching enough Beavis and Butthead shows, and having 3 of their DVDs has given me a lot of practice. lol

This is great news, seriously!

RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I just had this thought: Remember how Beavis and Butthead always wanted to "score" with chicks but never did? I wonder, in light of this new season, if they'll get lucky. giggle

RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

lol These kids don't know nada about Beavis and Butthead. I hope they're doing this for the true fans. I watched this show all the time waay before I was 'sposed to. I saw an episode last night where they were commenting on a Prince song. I had to pause it for about an hour. That was the kind of simple humor I loved. Crude, ridiculous, and always physical. Also, it got me in trouble because I kept calling golfballs "tit-lee-ist" eek

That is AWESOME! Some of my best memories in college involve the B and B boys. Me and my dorm mates would make after mindnight runs to Circle K or 7/11. We would get some Mad Dog 20/20 or Boone's Farm and we would watch the show and laugh our ass off. I could do imitations of both Beavis and Butthead and would make up whole conversations of my own between them. Of course, I was carrying around a 2.0 GPA at the time so I probably should have spent a little more time on my studies. It all worked out though...

All good things they say never last...

That show (1993-1994) is as old as the kids in high school now. This wouldn't be a problem if they were bringing back Golden Girls or something, but Beavis & Butt-head are supposed to be their age.

Yeah, it's as old as they are now. BUT back when it was first out, they were little kids. I'm saying the humor might not interest them as it would an older fan over the age of 4. Some from that generation probably will love it. Others will let it go straight over their heads.

Eh, doesn't matter. I'll be watching, laughing, enjoying.

falloff OMFG, this one always cracks me up! There were episodes where Beavis and Butthead were making comments on Prince's "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" video, and "Sugar Walls", by Sheena Easton - lol!!!!

RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
