computer issues

well , my laptop of 7 yrs is givin me issues ...

maybe it is just dyng ... but i did have it worked on one time and ... well ....

the symptoms are it is opening up pages .... "localpages.com" i think ...

with just loggin in ... whether it is prince.org .... or ... yahoo ...

i downloaded ad-aware . ran a scan . it found a few things ... thought it was fixed ..

now it says "ad aware blocked svc-host" every once in a while ....

but it still opens a new window every so often ....

its not that bad that i cant use it ... i just got a new laptop for work.... but i still like to use the old one ....

any suggestions? any good websites you trust to run scans etc ... thanks, you guys always know the computer help questions !

I don't trust sites to run scans for me...i think windows has a program where you can check what is wrong with the comp.

restart your laptop in safe mode...it should reset itself and block any bad stuff

missmad is correct, most of those "scans" are a fraud or a bait & switch.

I cross check to remove malware / anti-virus scans to clean an 8 year old computers. Sometimes the other catches what the other software missed.

Malwarebytes Anit - Malware

http://www.filehippo.com/...i_malware/

after you run and uninstall that... download

SuperAnitSpyware

http://www.filehippo.com/...tispyware/

Do this in safe mode and shutdown you internet service while your running. Download these two items to a usb flashdrive from your new computer to your old computer and run.

If that doesn't do the trick it maybe time to reformat the HDD. Or, it ma ybe time to purchase a new HDD they shouldn't be that expensive for a 7 year old computer, you could find a new HDD one on eBay for a very reasonable price. I'm on my second HDD for my old Besty and she still working well, got it off of eBay.

My HP 530 was a bad investment. The batteries are low after only half an hour.

How old is that computer? HP has a Notebook PC Battery Recall thing going.

I have a DV 6000, love it but the battery that came with it lost a lot of it's charge about 18 months after I bought it; I brought another "higher" brand / model battery, no problem.
