I don't think that many people specifically read comics to look at the men and woman in that way, it's not that important. The underpants thing just looks cooler rather than having one solid colour for trousers. Same with the huge muscles etc, everything is exagerated.

Speaking as a straight woman, I love comics and graphic novels etc, but I'm not ever thinking 'woah check Wolverines package there!'. I've also never heard any guys say they like a female character more because she's been drawn with huge breasts. It's just something done for aesthetics. So I don't really get the 'straight dudes eat this stuff up' thing.
