If U Could Go Back In Time, But Know What U Know Now...

This is a toss up for me....I wouldn't be who I am today, I wouldn't have these two wonderful kids, but damn!!, I'd be tempted to change a WHOLE lot of things.....

For one, I'd have about 10 PHD's !!! I'd try to make myself recession proof.... biggrin

That's my advice to students & kids today!! Make yourself recession proof!!!!

Would U go back and change things knowing what you know now?

I'd have travelled a whole bunch more before buying a house and having kids. But then again, I'm getting to do it now, so probably doesn't matter so much.

I had some REALLY tough patches, and there are a few things I wish I could re-write, but my character now is made up of all of that then, and I'm SO HAPPY now. So nah, I'll take the good with the bad. wink

I know I sound like a TV show theme song....I know

  • I wouldn't have waited so long to have a baby... (my biggest regret). I thought I was doing the right thing... sad
  • I wouldn't have talked to/given half the guys I dated a chance
  • I wouldn't have gone to the place where I met my last guy
  • I wouldn't have reacted the way to some of the things in that last relationship

sigh

I try to live my life without regrets. All the mistakes I've made were for a reason. I've learned from them and moved on. I wouldn't be the person that I am today without them.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

How does a phd or several phds make you "recession proof"? Academics suffer from the times of recession the most. Unless you have a decent amount of work experience from your own field of study it matters very little when the employers can pick up the ones that have working experience.

Having said that, I wish I could go back in time to tell the 25 year old me to start picking up more women when I still had the looks to be able to pull off that. razz confused

That's kinda how I feel, but I do have some regrets and reading these posts, it seems we all have one or two.

I feel that its too late to correct these regrets. neutral

Then it's no use focusing on mistakes that you wish you could change because guess what, you can't. That's like wasted energy to me, wishing for something that can't happen. All you have control over is what you do going forward...and then guess what, you going to make more mistakes in the future too. It's all a learning experience.

I would definitely go back and get a job that would be more "recession resistant." I don't know that there is any such thing as "recession proof," as I believe any vocation is subject to the ebb and flow of things such as the economy. We see that teachers are now being laid off, which is the first time in my 37 years I have EVER heard of that. I would go back and do something probably in the medical field or geriatrics. I would think those two fields would be somewhat recession resistant. And as far as owning your own business.......nah. I currently own my own business, and it ain't all it's cracked up to be. It's the most liberating thing I've ever done, but also the most stressful and terrifying. I'm not sure we're gonna make it, so I'm getting the resume updated.

I'm loathe to change anything, because I'm pretty content with where I've ended up.

But...I think it's safe to say that I would have made some different choices in terms of relationships.

I try to maintain this mindset but there are a few things I haven't moved on from quite yet.

The one thing I would definitely change is my most recent relationship. I wish I had handled things differently from the first sign of trouble. The negatives and the harm they've done far outweigh the positives.

I wouldn't change anything at all except maybe one thing. I tend to jump the gun.

I've reached in darkness and come out with treasure
I layed down with love and I woke up with lies
Whats it all worth only the heart can measure
It's not whats in the mirror but what's left inside
