I've read it a few times and just recently picked it up again. Love the story, albeit a rather depressing read.

John Irving - Last Night in Twisted River A good yarn and he mixes in some of his own opinions on writing, his poitics, and being an American living in Canada.

Steven D. Stark - Meet The Beatles: A Cultural History Of The Band That Shook Youth, Gender And The World Interesting take on the Beatles impact on the world, dispells some long-held myths about the band.

The Complete Idiot's Guide to Chakras - Very helpful in making me feel good inside and expanding my knowledge of Hinduism's belief system.

john irving - the world according to garp. read that so long ago, and loved it at the time.

am not familiar with steven stark.

um, you mention 'complete idiot's guide to chakras'.

Does anyone have a Kindle? I really want one

[Edited 7/14/10 13:44pm]

i don't*. i like to read books in the jacuzzi/bathtub/spa while soaking. forgive me for sharing that visual, but i don't think kindle would hold up well in those circumstances?

*well, yes, i kind of do. i will always prefer the printed word, but times change. the publishing industry changes and i'm afraid the printed word is going out of style.

too bad the publishing industry can't keep up with the times. hardcover releases at 35$ a pop? really? i don't even like hardcover format. it gets waterlogged too quickly. mad smile

i much prefer paperback. i'd like to start up an online-offline publishing company that focuses on manga-style production, paperback releases in a cheap (yet, oddly appealing), print style like pulp fiction of the 30s. wouldn't that be fun? if production could be accomplished with an eye to keeping printed books in the price rang of 2-3$, or slightly more, i think people would go for it. and printed books will never, ever need batteries.....

this is a cool read. it's about a guy who lives in a cemetery for years, conversing with his pal, the Raven and the spirits of the dead.

I've recently read all 3 Stieg Larsson books. Great trilogy. Not great literature, but very fun reads. Can't wait to see the movies too. Lisbeth rocks!!

The first movie was a proper (if low budget) movie, whereas the other two were shot in quick succession right after the first one, before they knew how successful it would become. They were originally made for TV, so I doubt that they're very good.

They aren't cinematic masterpieces, granted, but they are still pacey and gritty and on the edge of your seat suspenseful. I read the books first, so it's hard to say how they stand up for those who haven't.
