?The Long Walk. don't know that one. i've kind of lapsed on King's work in recent years. i go on author binges. read everything someone ever wrote, then sometimes don't come back to them for a while.

It was published in 1979 under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. It was written pre-Carrie during his college days.

Right now I'm reading Miami Babylon by Gerald Posner and throughly enjoying it. The fascinating thing about the book is that all this stuff is true and Posner is an excellent writer.
I have it on audio and the funny part is, I was listening today and Prince is mentioned in chapter 7, apparently Prince told a businessman that he liked South Beach because it was nasty like certain parts of MPLS only it has beaches and better weather, This was right before he bought the Glam Slam nightclub. Who knew that Princey was one of the pioneers of SoBe?
Here's the review that's on Amazon...I highly recommend this book.
From Publishers Weekly Miami Beach proves a multilayered topic for Posner: investigative journalist, bestselling author (Case Closed) and denizen of America's most decadent city. Posner examines how Miami Beach turned from a quiet resort into the interconnecting site of crime, finance and politics (which one mayor described as a blood sport). The author gives a penetrating look at the sun-drenched history of South Florida, the swampland and scoundrels, rumrunners and smugglers in speedboats from Prohibition on, a major military training center during WWII and the glitzy playground of mobsters. The book comes alive from the start with an account of South Florida overwhelmed in 1980 by the influx of 125,000 Cuban refugees, followed by gritty segments on the coke wars, South Beach fun and frolic, the gay glam party life and the revitalization of key areas of the Beach. Corruption in City Hall and immoral real estate moguls conclude this thoroughly entertaining analysis of one of the original American pleasure domes and the good times that continue to roll. 8 pages of b&w photos. The first movie was a proper (if low budget) movie, whereas the other two were shot in quick succession right after the first one, before they knew how successful it would become. They were originally made for TV, so I doubt that they're very good.

Well, I had already been familiar with that kind of philosophy before reading this book. I like it so far, I'm currently reading a chapter about what people call love relationships and I find it interesting. But I wouldn't call myself anybody's follower

The Chips Are Down / Les jeux sont fait: Jean Paul Sartre
I've read it a few times and just recently picked it up again. Love the story, albeit a rather depressing read.

I'm a huge fan of Stephen King. I've read 99% of his work. I highly recommend IT. It was my favourite book. I really loved The Shining and The Stand too. He has a series called The Dark Tower series. Very good stories, but you MUST read them all in order.

John Irving - Last Night in Twisted River A good yarn and he mixes in some of his own opinions on writing, his poitics, and being an American living in Canada.
Steven D. Stark - Meet The Beatles: A Cultural History Of The Band That Shook Youth, Gender And The World Interesting take on the Beatles impact on the world, dispells some long-held myths about the band.
The Complete Idiot's Guide to Chakras - Very helpful in making me feel good inside and expanding my knowledge of Hinduism's belief system. [Edited 7/14/10 13:43pm]
