Need your advice: Diet-Pepsi's in hot car trunk!

It's currently 33 Celsius (91 Fahrenheit), here - weather.com says it feels like 38/100.

I just bought a bunch of those 6-packs of Diet Pepsi bottles (they were not refrigerated at the store) and they're now sitting in my trunk. If they remain there until 10pm, they're not gonna "spoil" are they? confuse

I know this is a complex math problem, but I have a feeling you're up to it, org! woot!

Back when I drank soda, I used to do similar things. I don't think it ever hurt them.

Doesn't aspartame become unstable at extreme temperatures? hmmm

I think so. Ace, you should probably ignore what I said. I gave up soda years ago, so I don't know what I'm talking about.

I think that's why you can't bake with it... It's no good at extreme temperatures over a duration. Turns into formaldahyde or something.

Maybe I'm wrong, though...

Carrie is right - aspartame loses its sweetness with temperature. (That's why soda-fountain beverage syrups contain a mixture of aspartame and saccharin.)

The soda might not "spoil," but it isn't going to taste very good.

Thanks, everyone! I'm seriously thinking of pulling them out of the car...

Shyra

I lost an entire case of diet green tea in the 16oz bottles because I forgot about them. They sat in my car for about a month before I "discovered" them. By the time I retrieved the case, the tea had turned a sickly brown color. I opened a bottle to taste, and it was simply awful. Wasted my $16. sad
