Ok, I just got back home from the grocery store. And I thought ........ I just got to post about this!

Before going to the grocery store, I went to gas up at the gas station being as my gas was running low. I paid for $10.00 worth of gas for the car.

Sooooo.................. I go out and unscrew the gas cap and plonk in the nozzle and press the gas I need. Well, I got more than $10.00 worth of gas. The prepaid gas did not stop at $10.00 it kept going and going and going and pretty soon it was up to $22.00 worth of gas

Then I thought, this thing is just going. I think the girl fucked up somewhere. At some point I quit when it got to $25.00 worth of gas. I figured I better get the hell out of there before she realizes and I acted normal and got in the car and drove off

In one way I felt like Yesssssssssssssss and I also felt bad. I won't be going there for awhile so she forgets about me or maybe she did not realize her error

This has happened before once in the past btw

I won't be showing up for gas for a while

Only you know if it was wrong for you ... BUT by your post wording, you seem really okay with it

I know for ME it would feel/be wrong and I would correct it

I get really scared I'll get caught, so I probably would have gone in and reported it, prepared to pay.

Don't sweat it, it's not a felony unless you steal over $300.

That same chick has done it before a ways back.

3 weeks ago I went to pay for gas and my debit card got declined and I always check my bank. I was like wtf?? - It was the same chick that fucked up on this gas. Right after it got declined I went to another gas station and had no problem at all. Maybe she don't know her job well?

They don't have cameras coz the owner is a penny pinching miser who over charges on his merchandise. Gas was prepaid anyway

So that's why the gas station owners merchandise is expensive. He makes his money using inflated prices aha!

I don't blame you....I'd get the fuck out of dodge too. I usually pay with my card at the pump, so this'll never happen to me. If this happened to me on a broke week....at a gas station that I don't go to often, then I might've driven off w/ extra gas too. Depends on my money and morality level for that day.

And yes, it was wrong. Someone else's mistake does not make it less than what it is; stealing and cheap skating. I would have said something.

Wow, hope your license tag wasn't filmed. You can always "make it right" and go back and pay the money. I've had to "make things right" before because my conscience will not let me sleep if I don't.

Seriously though, keep your receipt to show the mounties(if they show up) that you paid. No one is going to do the work involved to track down the missing $15 worth of gas no matter how easy it is to do, but they may report you as a drive-off. So the receipt is your ace in the hole. If you want to ease your conscience, make a donation or give a homeless guy $15. Going back to the station isn't going to help your situation one bit as they probably have no idea who got the extra go-juice if you paid cash.

I left a gas station last year after pre-paying at the pump. I got the gas I paid for($55) - no more, no less. A half hour later, a squad car shows up as I was outside with my family talking to some neighbors. The cop tells me that I was reported as a drive-off. So I tell him that I have my receipt and went and got it. The officer and I go to the gas station to straighten it out, but the clerk is adamant that I drove off without paying, even though I showed the receipt to him. The cop had to talk to the guy for several minutes to explain that the exact amount supposedly not paid for was charged to my credit card as stated on the time-stamped receipt. We left with the officer saying to the clerk that there was no theft.

I was pissed off. The a-hole at the counter should have apologized to me, but I left with him thinking I somehow magically stole some gas and printed my own receipt.

I always get a receipt and I tell everyone I know to always get a receipt for any amount of gas. Those fuckers can't keep track and will write down the first license plate they see when they think something isn't adding up.
