My friend Drew called me yesterday morning asking if I wanted to go to a party last night.
I told him that was cool and for him to call me around 8. Ok.
He calls me and we talk about where and what time we were going to meet.

I get to the party (a going away party for his nephew going to the marines) and everything is going good. At this point its about 1am and more people start to show up. Im not really a party type person so at this point im deciding if I should go home or not. I go up to my friend who they are throwing the party for and tell him im leaving soon. He's all "oh come on its just gettin fun. Stay a little longer for me please?" So I say ok and continue to party.

Time goes on and things are still fun. Not a dull moment yet. Its now 2:30am and im like ok I gotta go home I need sleep. As im walkin up to Drew to tell him im ready to go soon ... his cousin (we call her pepa) comes up to him and tells him that some guy tried to pull her to the side and she told him to let go. Then she says "he slapped me in my face". I looked at Drew's face and he's furious. She pointed out the guy and starts crying. Drew walks up to him and asked him if he had a problem with his hands. The guy says "oh u mean that bitch i just slapped." Its very obvious this guy is drunk out of his mind. As much as Drew wanted to hit him, we walked outside.

As we are outside I call a friend to come pick us up. I had a drink and im sure drew and pepa had a drink too. As we're waiting for my friend to come we see the guy that slapped pepa gettin kicked out of the party. He then walks up the block and gets in his car. Im saying to myself "is he really about to drive". I turn around to give drew's nephew a hug and tell him good luck and i'll see him when he returns. Not even a minute later the guy that hit drew's cousin is coming back up the block. I notice his hand was in his pants like he was holding a gun. I immediately tell drew we need to get out of here...i think dude got a gun. As soon as we were about to walk away...the guy ran up and shot Drew in his back 3 times.

Drew dropped to the ground and the guy ran. Pepa called 911 and im sitting on the ground holding my friend of 20 yrs in my arms begging him not to die. I kept saying Drew dont go please dont go. over and over and over. He just looked at me. I told him i love him and he stopped breathing. i fuckin lost it. And on top of that the ambulance took 30 mins to show up.

These past few hours have been horrible. I haven't slept, my body wont stop shaking, I havent eaten anything, and my eyes are swollen from crying. Worst feeling i've ever had.

In all honesty I just need u guys to send prayers this way.

Nothing in this world is promised. And it can all be gone in seconds.

I'm sorry that you had to witness that!! I hope they find that guy and lock him up FOREVER!

something senseless because of an idiot who chooses to be

an asshole. Like it was said earlier, i hope they lock the idiot

The only thing you can do is just talk. Surround yourself with people who love you and who are open to your words, rants and tears. It won't make it go away but it will give some sort of sanity out of chaos.

Beautiful sister, I am deeply saddened for your loss and thankful your friend had you in that moment. There can only be very few angels that could help his spirit in that moment and you are one of them.

I am here is you need to talk. Senseless violence and murder is a sad part of our society. I hope this man pays for what he did. My love and heart are with you
