I do hope this jars her into doing something about whatever battle she's fighting. Handling her with kids' gloves would be nothing more than enabling anymore.

we've seen that a bunch of times - she really was cute and a good young actress.

she needs this lockup thing bad, and for more than a few weeks.

I don't feel sorry for that spoiled brat. She's old enough to take responsibility for her own actions. A lot of people come from dysfunctional families, but few have the advantages that girl was given.

Would she do more than a couple of days, especially since the jails are always full?

I heard she'll only end up doing a few weeks at most.

Still, Paris and Nicole didn't go in for long either and they got on the right track afterwards so who knows?

Weren't they in less than 1 day? I know some other celebuskanks, maybe Khloe, were in jail less than a couple hours due to the overcrowding. No way LiLo does her time, too bad. hmph!

nod

I agree that struggling with an addiction is hard.

But she's being punished not for her addictions, but her stupid behavior.

I mean, if you're going to hit the bottle, stay the fuck away from a car.

I just cant' feel sorry for her.

Paris was in for about 45 days, I think. Nicole only 80 minutes but she checked into a program immediately after. Paris still parties sometimes but she keeps a low celeb profile now and I think she moved house to a less paparazzi infested area.

Honestly, I don't even know WHAT this young woman is famous for, aside from getting into trouble. I mean, she had some movie out called "Mean Girls" or something, right? And while I didn't hear her speak today, I can't imagine ANYTHING causing my heart to ache for her disbelief . Although, Chris Brown shed a tear or two and got me feeling all mushy inside (...like I wanted to give that Asshole a hug), lol. So... I dunno, lol.

Can someone recommend something by Lindsay Lohan that I should watch that might endear me toward her just a bit? What has she put out that would help me to recognize the talent that has made her famous. I'm ready to look at her objectively, so please - recommend her best to date.

Georgia Rule was pretty decent, though very dark. The ads made it look like a comedy but it's definitely not. Freaky Friday was quite funny but Mean Girls is better value.

I love "Georgia Rule", but then again, I'm a HUGE Jane Fonda fan.

American public/media has a strange fascination with air-head blondies. Its a love/hate relationship, they love to hate them, and they enjoy watching them making a complete fumbled mockery of themselves, it gives their pens more ink.

It just shows you how fuckin' triflin the American media is. But no, I don't feel sorry for her either,,,,,I know folks who can't win for losing but at least they're TRYING, this broad though, she doesn't give a crawling damn,,,,not from her actions.

Paris served 23 days of her 45 day sentence. disbelief

In November 2007, LiLo spent 84 minutes behind bars for a drunken driving and cocaine-possession conviction.

Following in her "Simple Life" co-star's footsteps, Nicole Richie also made a quickie trip to jail. Sentenced to four days for driving the wrong way on the freeway while under the influence of alcohol and drugs -- it was her second DUI conviction in four years -- Richie spent a whopping 82 minutes getting booked at the Lynwood facility before being released due to overcrowding. She never even made it to her cell!

After being sentenced to 30 days in jail for a 2007 DUI (which she blamed on the death of her father), Khloe Kardashian was released from jail after spending only 173 minutes behind bars.

Michelle Rodriguez has also checked in and out of the slammer over the years. The "Girlfight" star went to jail for 48 hours and was placed on three years' probation after pleading no contest to a hit-and-run, driving on a suspended license, and drunken driving stemming from two incidents that happened in LA in 2003. Unfortunately, the actress received another DUI in Honolulu in December 2005, which landed her in the pokey for five days and found her in violation of her Los Angeles probation. Rodriguez was sentenced to 60 days, but only ended up serving one day behind bars due to overcrowding. Found in violation of her probation again -- she hadn't completed her community service and had not followed an alcohol education program -- the "overcrowding" rule allowed her to serve only 18 days of her 180 day sentence.

I've never heard of regular folks with multiple DUIs serving such a small fraction of their sentences. confused

I always say that there are two types of people in this world: those who learn the easy way and those who learn the hard way. Well, Lindsay had to learn the hard way. I definitely don't feel sorry for her because I see this as a blessing in disguise for this young, lost soul. She needs to get away from all the bad things that encompass her life at the moment ie. Hollywood, her fucked up family, and all the 'Yes' people she chooses to surround herself with. It's either jail time and court mandated rehab or severe injury and possible death. She'll survive jail but nobody comes back from death and that's where she was slowly heading. I watched the trial as it aired and couldn't believe that she stood up to plead her case and commenced to playing dumb by blaming others for 'not telling her what to do' (which was total bullshit because she heard the judge tell her to go to 27 weeks of classes and not to miss a single class or face possible jail time so what didn't she understand; she's not retarded, deaf, or 2 years old so her excuse was laughable and a waste of time). Then she had the audacity to start crying to try and get sympathy from the judge. lol Girl please. After giving the court system the middle finger and you thing some tears were going to save you from your inevitable fate. What the hell was all that nonsense about working? This girl hasn't had a legit acting role since all this shit went down 3 years ago. I saw "I Know Who Killed Me" and it just showed me star-potential lost. Terrible film that wasn't just bad because of the awful script. I guess she considers 'working' nowadays to be how many red carpet appearances she can make and how many clubs she can get banned from for her bad behavior because I damn sure haven't seen any great acting come out of her in a while. Why the hell would the judge have any sympathy on this girl when she sees what the majority of everyone else sees: a young narcissistic girl who refuses to take responsibility for her own fuck ups that in the end could end up costing her her health and life. That judge just probably saved her life. The judge should have given her longer jail and rehab time than just 180 days because she needs to learn that life is more important than fame and money. Hopefully, she'll come out of this wiser and if she comes out with a new attitude, Hollywood will be there to embrace her and her career will thrive...hey, it worked for Mickey Rourke and Robert Downey Jr.

No, Paris had to do her full sentence:

Hilton was required to begin her jail term on June 5, 2007, and checked herself into the Century Regional Detention Facility, an all-female jail in Lynwood, California after attending the 2007 MTV Movie Awards on June 3, 2007. With credit for good behavior, it was anticipated that Hilton would only serve 23 days of her 45-day sentence; however, in an unexpected turn of events, Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca signed orders on the morning of June 7, reassigning Hilton to 40 days of home confinement with an electronic monitoring device due to an unspecified medical condition. Baca commented on the release saying, "My message to those who don't like celebrities is that punishing celebrities more than the average American is not justice," contesting that under normal circumstances, Hilton would not have served any time in jail, and he added that "The special treatment, in a sense, appears to be because of her celebrity status ... She got more time in jail". On the same day that Hilton was released from jail, Judge Michael Sauer summoned her to reappear in court the following morning (June 8) as the sentencing statement had explicitly said she would serve time in jail with "No work furlough. No work release. No electronic monitoring." At the hearing he declined to be briefed by Hilton's attorney in private chambers on the nature of her condition and sent her back to jail to serve out her original 45-day sentence. Upon hearing the sentence, Hilton shouted, "It's not right!" and started screaming, requesting to hug her mother who was present in the courtroom. Concerns about Hilton's condition led to her being moved to the medical wing of the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles, and she was moved back to the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood on June 13.

Okay now, so upon your recommendation, I just got finished watching "Mean Girls". And I gotta say, I really enjoyed this movie, lol. I thought there would be no way I would enjoy anything she had done, but I was ready to keep an open mind and see for myself, and I'm glad I did.

Of course it still doesn't explain to me what may have gone wrong in her life, I suspect the problem may be that people have just allowed her to believe she was just THAT special, and that the same rules didn't apply to her that others had to follow. In any event, it would be a good thing if she could turn herself around. Not so much that the acting world needs her, but it would just be a good thing.

And watching her in "Mean Girls" did help me to see another side of her, so thanks for that. wink

Yeah, Mean Girls is pretty flawless, it's something I could watch no matter how many times I've seen it, and Tina Fey did a fantastic job at examining high school cliques. I've always felt Lohan was helped by very strong co-stars in this film, she's not really required to do much besides be the proxy for the audience which is why I'd still recommend Georgia Rule because she's actually the lead character in that. It's VERY dark, though, quite the opposite to Mean Girls.

As far as her real life issues go, she's been famous since she was 12 and has had a fairly hectic upbringing thanks to her crazy dad, stage mom and of course, a rising star. Without any particular parental guidance (her mom used to party WITH her and her dad was in jail for a while and now prefers to sell her out as often as he can) it would seem she had nowhere to go but down. Considering she's been in rehab 3 times already and she's only 24, I hope the jail time, however short it ends up being, will be the real wake up call because she DOES have some talent left to offer.

Paris was sent back to jail to serve her full sentence after she was initially allowed to do the house arrest but she still ONLY served a total of 23 days. She didn't do the full 45 days.

http://www.cnn.com/2007/L...index.html

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Hotel heiress Paris Hilton walked out of a Los Angeles-area jail early Tuesday with a big smile on her face after serving 23 days for violating her probation on a reckless driving conviction.

The 26-year-old multimillionaire was sentenced to 45 days for the 2006 probation violation, but only served about half the term, gaining credit for good behavior.

Sad she's only 24. In court, she looks mid to late 30's easily. I would probably feel more sorry for her if she didn't have access to so much money (...assuming as a Hollywood "it" girl she would have some amount of money). I will make a point to eventually watch "Georgia Rule", since you didn't steer me wrong with "Mean Girls". But at least at this point, I can say I'm familiar with something she's done professionally.

Time will tell if she's learned any lessons, doesn't seem likely at this particular time. Although I wish her well (...that's more than I felt for her yesterday, lol).

I really like Lindsay Lohan boxed I think she's an awesome little actress who just happens to have got a little distracted which is easy to do when you're young and troubled. I don't watch much TV or read tabloids so I can't comment too much on the other stuff but the last interview I saw of her was with Ellen and she came across as someone desperate to do a good movie and wanting a fresh start. It's a shame her career has stalled whilst she is so young but hopefully she'll get another chance to get it back on track.
