my sister-in-law signed up my 7 year-old daughter for a karaoke duet

This was at a campground over the 4th of July weekend. She signed them up for 'I Kissed A Girl' and when I heard that, I very politely requested that the dj pull it, which she more than gladly did.

My sis in law didn't understand my deal, and I had to remind her that as my daughter's father I do still retain the right to draw the line wherever I see fit.

So am I an overbearing father, or is my sister-in-law on crack? (I'm not actually wondering, most of us in the family know she's a fucking nutjob)

I dont think its proper for 7 year olds to be singing that song either... Sounds like some crap my sister would pull..disbelief

~~~~~ Oh that voice...incredible....there should be a musical instrument called George Michael... ~~~~~
That's 100 % right and I support your choice
Would be nice to see more parents stand up and set healthy boundries for young ( and all age ) children
That.
You did the right thing, and it's your right!
By the way, doesn't this emoticon remind you of Genesia?
I think it's cute, and sort of reminds me of her.
I think you did the right thing.
It's really hard though when your child sings along to songs on the radio... I've had issues with my 4 year old singing along to 'Sex on fire' and 'Send a dirty picture to me' (or whatever it's called).
It's all obviously innocent to them, but I don't think it's appropriate.
Btw, i've now taught my son to sing 'My socks are on fire'. thumbs up!
You did the right thing. I would have done the same with my 8 year old. Either that or I would have killed the sister-in-law. Lesser of two evils.
Innapropriate material for that age group without question. I applaud you for your common sense clapping Something I find completely lacking in too many parents out there. You're not supposed to be your kids best friend gatdamn it!! You're THE PARENT!!
Your in-law is a doofus!
She's on crack rocks.
Even if the 7yo doesn't understand the meaning, you might teach her a thing about what is appropriate for her age, and save her some embarrassment.
