Blackberry vs iPhone question

Is it better to give up a Blackberry for an iPhone? Opinions wanted.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

The blackberry is like Prince. It was all the rage a few years ago, but today it's sort of a bit...oh, what's the word... routine? The iPhone is like Thom Yorke. TOTALLY in with the hipster chic crowd, expressive, and picked with whimsical surprises and layers of entertainment value. Sure, his voice croaks alot and he can barely carry a tune on a good day. But, hey--it's fucking Thom Yorke!

Yeah that's why I was asking because my contract ends in September, and then I'll be eligible for an upgrade. One of my family member's has the new iPhone and I was looking at some of the features and all, they all seemed to be better than the Blackberry, except for texting, which I do a lot of. I don't know if I can get used to texting on a touch screen. shrug

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I like my Blackberry (I have the Bold 9000) but the browser is one of the things that I wished they would get up to date on. Other than that, I can't complain, but I would consider getting the iPhone just because their browser is more accurate, up to speed and fast. As stated above, my only concerns is the texting on a touch screen.

Exactly the same here.

Though I think i'm swaying more towards an i-phone. My current phone has a touch screen and it doesn't bother me. I guess you just get used to it.

I got an HTC Droid Eris (through Verizon) in January and I love it. It totally cured my iPhone envy. lol

I'm giving up my Blackberry. I want an iPhone but I hate At&T. I may go with a Droid or the HTC.

What issues are you having with AT&T? I have my phone through them and they have been a breeze for me.

I had a bad experience with them years ago and decided to not have anything else to do with them. It's hard because I really want an iPhone.

What does open source mean?

It means that anybody can make changes to the source code the OS is running (tweaks, improvements, limitations) so long as those changes are provided as source code that the entire community can use and develope themselves.

In addition, Android uses the Apache license scheme which means changes don't have to be submitted to the Open Source community for approval---so it speeds up innovation, with the slight risk of making the platform more confusing or 'flavored'.

You'll see each vendor make key feature changes, some of which will be very cool. It remains to be seen if this actually beats closed source code, as Linux is open source but I don't think it will overtake Microsoft's WIndows 8 (soon to be released) or Mac OS-X anytime soon.

Either way, Android will be a formidable opponent in the cellphone market (which dwarfs the PC market by the way), and may be the straw that breaks the upcoming Microsoft WIndows Phone 7's camel's back. lol

So when say "Android" are you speaking of the HTC Droid phones?

It means if you're a nerd, you can waste hours upon hours of your life messing around with the guts of the devices software workings.

If you're like most people and just want to use the damn thing, it's irrelevant.
