If you don't know how to use the Automated Teller Machine... A T M...you know, the one you drive up to at the bank, with a machine with buttons? PLEASE, for the sake of sanity...GO INSIDE THE BANK AND LEARN HOW FIRST!

There was this guy in front of me the other day who kept putting the wrong pin number in, ggrrr. If you do that three times the machine takes your card. Guess what happened?

Come on, it's a bloody ATM machine, some some alien artifact that you need to decipher to save humanity. It's 2003, people KNOW how to use the machines by now, so why is there always one idiot stuck in a loop - the normal pin-number entry followed by a quick menu traversal followed by a cash withdrawal - maximum of 8 key presses - suddenly becomes an extended conversation as the muppet in question enquires as to the health of the ATM, where he's going on holiday this year etc.

Shit, people are stupid. We probably need to teach basic ATM skills at school. The irritating thing is - I've seen a homeless guy playing Tetris on his mobile phone. I've seen 6 year old kids sending each other ring-tones on their mobile. People use microwave ovens with the most appalling user interfaces every day. So what is so difficult about an ATM!

just to throw a spanner in the works... i've spent a lot of time training ppl with a disability (especially blind ppl) to access an atm...and i've seen some ppl get pretty impatient...i can see ppl's point here...but sometimes there's more to it...

I remember being in the post office once, this pretty old guy (around 70 or so) was trying to use his debit card to pick up a package. Poor thing couldn't remember his pin #, kept entering it, kept fucking it up. The line was so long already, everyone was cranky but kept quiet out of respect... or pity, which ever. Except this one lady who let out a loud, rude sigh. "Oh GOD! This is ridiculous! He's taking forever!" It was bad enough he was confused & upset, she didn't have to say that shit. She's being inconvenienced for 5 minutes, yes, but he's living with this confusion all day, every day! Have some empathy, woman! Anyway, he finally got it right & went on his way. Any longer & I was gonna pitch in to pay cash for his package just to get the fucker out of there, save him some embarrassment. I so wanted to say something to her, I still regret keeping quiet. & while I remember the whole scene, how rude she was & how bad I felt for the guy, I bet she's never given it a second thought. If she does, it's probably all about how she was held up @ the post office by grandpa. What a witch!

Anyway, I'm not saying this is how any of you are, lol, it just reminded me of this. Y'all know how long winded I can be!
