I'm reading some of the comments in this thread and I'm filled with envy by one thing; the bullshit detector.
Being a "judge of character" is def not one of my assets. I don't know if its experience or some people just happen to be blissed with it, one thing for damn sure, if I had it, it would eliminate YEARS of drama from my life. |

- I am intelligent
- I'm a good teacher- dedicated, fair and knowledgeable
- I'm friendly and have a good sense of humor
- I call things like I see them, even if people don't like what I have to say
- I will do anything (within reason) for a friend... and slightly more unreasonably for the man I'm with
- I think I'm pretty decent-looking... with a nice body

it really sucks knowing too much because sometimes you get to see who's right and who's wrong, and while you won't say a word, but you can't help but change the way you view or even deal with the side that's in the wrong. [Edited 7/4/10 10:21am] |

Sometimes its worse than that though, a new burden on top of the stuff thats already piled up inside you.
Like, this close family member of mine shared with me a secret the rest of his close circles are not aware of(I think I told you about this situation).
Believe me, its HELL seeing what that person have to go through in order to maintain this "illusion" that people have of him. The worst thing of the scenario is, I'm seeing a good person suffering and I can't even do anything to change the situation,,,,talk about a guilt trip.
Thats only one example among many. |

To be perfectly honest, this thread made me sit back and think ...
I went through all the standards i.e. good to my kids, hold the door open for a lady, use good table manners etc. but decided that wasn't really enough to answer your question.
So... I'm stumped! I feel like I'm just existing at this point. Too broke or mundane to regularly do anything spectacular.

Chalk that up to setting high standards, because it sounds like the start of a pretty loveable list. |

Dude, the world doesn't need another rockstar or superhero. Just be the good -- and regular -- man you are. Believe me, when all we utterly fabulous types are dead and gone, your kids will be left to manage the world... and they'll do it in very large part based on the unsung, mundane, but extremely important example you set.
