Yeah, this weather sucks. I hate it. I ran out to get coffee this morning and it was already stifling at 7 a.m.

I'm in NJ, not too far from Newark, where it hit 103F (39.5C)....

I worked all morning in a century-old school building with no air conditioning, then got in a car with no air. I think I lost 15lbs in sweat...

(At least my air was fixed last Thursday at home.)

My unheated pool is 84 degrees today. It's a perfect day here. Sun + salt water = amazing tan.

And with the humidity factor it actually feels like 107.6 here but now that I am in an air conditioned house I don't care about humidity anymore.

Even though it takes about 10-15 minutes longer, I am taking the bus to/from work this week. I cannot bear the thought of having to wait in a stuffy subway station. Not to mention I live along the B/D line so when the Yankees are playing at home, my commute is made even more hellish by obnoxious Yankees fans taking up all the room on an already crowded subway. Luckily the Yankees are out of town this week.

No air conditioning at your office?!! Fuck that. I thought I had it bad -- we're in an old building w/o central air -- just crappy window air conditioners. My boss never gets hot so when she gets in she shuts off the one in her office and it gets really stuffy. I'm usually one of the first people to arrive in the morning so the office is always hot and stuffy when I get there until I turn on all the ac's.

Tell them they should have tried harder during the school year -- then they wouldn't have to spend their summer sweating in summer school.

My high school did not have air conditioning and from the library windows, we could see to the bank on the corner, which had a rotating clock/temperature sign outside. If the temperature on the bank thermometer went above 82 we got out of school early. In August we would be in the library, faces pressed against the window, hoping for it to hit the magic number!

Nothing you can do about that. Everybody's funkdafied at the end of a work day. Can't wash ya ass at the office. But I make sure to brush and floss my teeth.

I thought it was funny the other day when the local weather guy said, "We're in a BONAFIDE heatwave!" They literally had those words on the screen. Too funny. didn't think "bonafide" was a technical term in meteorology. Doesn't mean I like the heat, but I'm used to it. Feels like home.

My dean closed the office at 3:00 yesterday. We work in one of those "temporay" buildings built out of aluminum siding. That shit heats up in a matter of minutes and the next thing you know the office is 87 degrees and climbing. Today is just as bad. I'm hoping she'll do the same shortly.

Spoke too soon. She just told me she can't close at 3:00 today, but that I can leave a 4:00.

Hope all this demand for electricity doesn't cause another blackout, like we had in '06 and'03.

I ate snacks I found in the back of my desk drawer for lunch today rather than go outside to get food.

Now you see what we go through down here every damn summer. I swear, I hate to see summer come every year.

We never had air conditioning in the schools the whole time I was in school. They have it in schools now but what trips me out, is they let the little spoiled brats go home when the air conditioning breaks down.
