Anyone watched The Book of Eli?

Watched this the other night, all I can say is what the hell was Denzel thinking doing this piece of shit? He's one of my favorite actors, but I couldn't get all the way through it. I considered going to the theatre to see it when it came out. Man I'm glad I saved that $10!

If you're not doing the fucking, then you're taking one.

denzel normally leaves the action stuff to his brother wesley and concentrates on acting instead of jumping about, so it was a strange choice for him. obviously the money was good. i thought it wasn't bad compared to other action flicks. it had a good max mad feel to it. the end was a bit of a surprise though, and rewatching it knowing the end, i'm in two minds about it as he didn't seem that way in a lot of scenes

I liked it.

I knew some of the gist of the story before I saw it, but didn't know how it would play out.

I liked the idea of it in general, and although there were a few unclear parts, overall the idea was put across well, and I enjoyed it. There were a couple of interesting twists in there, too. I don't get why he had to die at the end, unless I missed something. Otherwise, I liked the hopeful idea at the end, instead of it just being as depressing at the end as it started out being. Also, I wasn't totally clear as to what the girl was setting out to accomplish or do at the end of the movie. Would she go back home and become its new leader? Perhaps she was going to rescue her mom.

Nah, I didn't like it either.

Say, did you know that when George W. Bush was president, there were years he didn't go to Arlington National Cemetery for Memorial Day?

That's pretty low, as you have said before!!!

YOU should, because you raked Obama over the coals for it. You then asked what people would have done if Bush had done that too, and when it was pointed out that he HAD, you disappeared faster than Shawn Kemp on Father's Day.

I'll go back to P&R but maybe you should stay out of there.

Since it does look like a reworking of The Road (the movie, I do want to read the book) like some people have mention a while before, the brothers didn't have as much to do with developing the entire story. But I still like Eli, better than The Road (the movie), because as a movie, it filled in those empty areas that makes a movie worth watching, like purpose and hope. I like Eli for what it was worth but I definitely do see that there is room for improvement, it wasn't that deep or profound, but it was interesting. Besides Denzel (gettin' to be an old guy now wink ) gets to be all superhero-y (kind of), and gets a fight scene with a sword no less, seems to be a big thing for the Hollywood veterns these days.

If I remember correctly, he had been shot up pretty badly, at point blank range, long before even reaching San Francisco. I was surprised he survived that far.

Great movie, I enjoyed it as well.

it's simple, they can make a sequel without having to fork out millions for denzel to appear in it, so critics and fanboys don't moan about none of the original cast being in it and having no narrative to describe why. they can make the sequel cheaper with the chick
