I Have Been Looking For This Movie For 32 Years

I saw the movie"Gigot" which the Late, Great Jackie Gleason wrote, produced, and starred in and was directed by the Late, Great Gene Kelly when I was 8 years old. It's a story about a poor mute, who just barely scrapes by as janitor. He's got a great big heart, children and animals adore him. He befriends a hooker and her child and his life is never the same. I totally LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this movie.

When I got older and videos stores starting popping up on every street corner. I would make it a point to look for this movie in hopes that it was released on video. Unfortunately for me and plenty of other Jackie Gleason's Gigot fans, 20th Century Fox never saw the value in this movie to give it a proper release.

Still, I held out hope that one day, I would get to see my "Gigot" again and low and behold, I'm fooling around on the internet, just doing what I do. A question about Jackie Gleason comes up (When was his birthday? February 26th, the same as mine! Pisces Rule! Yeah, that's right!), one thing leads to another and I found my "Gigot" on Youtube! excited [img:$uid]http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e70/SexyBeautifulOne/yahoo.gif[/img:$uid]
It never occured to me to look there for it before today. doh!
I'm just posting part 1, if you want to see the rest, just go to the youtube channel. biggrin

I think Jackie Gleeson is a legend but I've never heard of this movie b4, so on Ur recommendation I've just watched it and....

I loved it. What an amazing film. There were some shots, (Especially the scenes b4 he makes her laugh for the first time.) that I don't think U would get away with 2day, 4 fear of it being misunderstood but every scene was a joy 2 watch (Like the fairground ride. lol.). It made me happy, it made me sad, it kept my interest and it didn't disappoint. Cool movie. smile

Thank U 4 sharing and thank U 4 not ruining my night. smile

I am so very happy that you took the time to watch and you enjoyed it! hug

Jackie Gleason's performance was astounding. He never said a word but through his expressions and mannerisms, he still makes you feel his every emotion. Now THAT'S what I call ACTING!!!

I read in his Bio that he was very proud of this movie, even though the critics and the public in 1962 when it was made, weren't all that moved by it.

However, if you glanced at the comments under each clip, it's clear to see there was an audience for it, that loved it and like myself, they've been actively seeking out this movie, for decades.

I can only hope that somehow Jackie Gleason's spirit knows this and is pleased. rose

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.
