We've had very minor tremors here (Toronto) before, but this was a full-on quake. Lasted about 10 secs.?

Anybody else feel it? biggrin

Earthquake shakes Ontario, Quebec

680News staff and The Canadian Press Jun 23, 2010 14:18:58 PM

An earthquake has just hit Toronto. There are reports the quake was felt in Ottawa, Barrie, Newmarket, Ohio, New York and Michigan. The Internet is abuzz with people saying they felt the earth rumble in cities across the province, including Windsor, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. The quake seemed to last for about 30 seconds in Ottawa and rattled downtown buildings, homes in west-end Ottawa and government offices across the Ottawa River in Gatineau, Que. MORE TO COME

Which is why I'm not surprised that some American cities were affected in the east.

I think earthquakes attract less traction in the eastern coasts than it does in the west. That's probably why Canada and the areas around it only had a 5.5 quake. It won't get any higher.

Earthquakes are more common in California, but one of the largest quakes in U.S. history happened back east.

That's actually in the mid Mississippi Valley (hardly "back east").

It is if you live in California. That's why I said "back east" instead of "The East Coast"
