I truly feel there's not much respect for folks in the creative fields. We always have to fight to get paid what we're worth. One time, it took me a year to collect $1500 on a job. Mfer kept dodging me.

Here are some 'Scarface' boxer shorts I designed. Also click on the 'lounge pants' link. I did three of them(Smokin' Tony, Every Dog, American Dream).

http://www.webundies.com/scarface.htm

Wow, one year damn. nod

Did you draw all of those? Very Very talented! hug

No, Universal Studios(which owns the 'Scarface' property) gave us a style guide which includes movie stills. I re-worked them using Photoshop filters/airbrushes and I added the bling and typeface using Illustrator. Takes a while to do because of the memory involved, but it's fun.

We also make novelty boxers/pants. We create that artwork from scratch.

Thanks for the compliments, hun.

People always want something for free... this guy was never a "friend" he was your boss. He thought he could take advantage of you. I am glad he didn't.

Your poetry business is just that, a business, not a charity. So the classy thing of him to do would have been for him to offer payment, even if you offered, as a "Thank You".

Zombiekitten is 1000% right. He knew what he was doing, since he came at you like you "owed him one" anyway.

a brand new client that I got on Monday, gave me a tour of his factory, and I asked if I could bring the kids to see next time, and he said Sure!! so I did yesterday afternoon, and he gave them close to $200 (RRP) worth of product to take home and keep omg

My kids were amazed and have been playing with this stuff obsessively last night and as soon as they woke up again.

I gave him a substantial discount off his bill nod even if this is our one and only transaction ever, I'm so touched at his generosity touched

comes with time I think, you will also learn to pick up on who are good ones and who you should steer clear of. I've only got a handful of clients that I trust, and it's taken 10 years or so to build sound relationships like that. I don't usually like dealing with new clients (I'll only accept them through referrals) and prefer repeat business. I'm not in the phone book for that reason. One of my clients jokes that my service is so super exclusive LOL but reality is I can't do much more work than I already do!

...the fact that your former boss said "can I call in a favor" suggests you owe him. Calling in a favor usually means a quid pro quo situation by which he once did a favor for you and now you have to reciprocate.

nod ...and that you didn't return the favor by writing a poem for your former boss, leaves you appearing ungrateful. Not that it may be important, but this will probably mark the end of your relationship with this former boss.

I don't think I owe him,.the last time we BOTH got something out of it...i guess it can appear the way it appears to him...oh well...I deserve to be paid for my time esp as I'm running a business.
