I saw the original for the first time ever a couple of weeks ago and I was not that impressed .

U saw the unedited version right? I thought that movie was gritty and brutal....and I wanted more!

It was brutal so I suppose I did, I watched in on a DVD my bf has. And to be honest it scared me a bit as at that time I was staying with him in his house which is a 30 minute drive away from the next house and everybody knew I was there alone when his van was not parking there. I knew that some men there were watching me from time to time without me noticing it as they told my bf about that. The house isn't finished yet and never locked and I had to take showers outside, so I was just hoping there were no men as fucked up as those 4 guys in the movie in that village. Thank God I was already back in Europe when I learned that we were watched when we had sex too .

It probably sounds scarier than it was. Still I am a bit worried how things will be if I'd return there.

While I was there I just knew they had been watching me when I was talking on the phone. I found out about the rest just when I was back home .

I did too! I wore my zoom button out trying to see those dicks. All that dick hair turned me on but I couldn't see any of the actual dicks except for the one on the nerd.

I still felt sorry for him. And for her too that she did what she did.

Even though the original movie was released during the height of the original slasher movie boom, the movie itself is more in line with the Death Wish series that it was with Halloween/Friday The 13th/The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. (For those who don't know or remember the Death Wish series, thhey all starred Charles Bronson, and after his character's wife is raped and murdered by a bunch of gangbangers who attempted to rob her, he asks the police to get the thugs who murdered his wife, but they are powerless to do anything, so he becomes a viligante and takes the law into his own hands. It's sort of like Die Hard but it came out years earlier.)

BTW, this remake looks much slicker and more polished than the original, but I'm willing to bet that the extreme violence is ratched down some.

did you know DIE HARD is actually a sequel (of sorts) to a movie staring Frank Sinatra!

But I do see the comparison to Death Wish. Spit on Your Grave: is a slasher with a moral reason to kill. (even if Friday the 13th is also a revenge film, the revenge is misdirected upon innocent victims)

I'll most likely see it. They did a rape-revenge knock-off called "Run, Bitch Run!" last year. It's on Netflix if anyone has it. That's probably one of the few places you'll find it since it's so low budget. It wasn't half bad.....the director stayed true to the 70's exploitation style (The Robert Rodriguez Grindhouse way lol).
