Fave Director: Billy Wilder; Some Like It Hot
Fave Actor: Daniel Day Lewis; The Age of Innocence
Fave Actress: Julianne Moore; Far from Heaven
Hard. I do not have faves, to be honest. I got favest roles and movies. There are no actors, actressess or directors whom I like every movie of. Like the director of my most favourite movie ever, Milos Forman; I love Amadeus, but his others, not so much. So I chose Billy Wilder, whom's ouvre is more interesting to me than Forman's.
For actor, I chose Day-Lewis, who can impress me with almost every role he plays. His portrayal of Newland Archer in The Age Of Innocence is exquisite, though. I got something with costume drama in which everybody is repressed, though; it makes for beautiful movies with intrigue.
My favourite actress is probably Julianne Moore. I could say Meryl Streep, but that's soooo 70's. Julianne Moore blew me away in Magnolia, wooed me in Far From Heaven and consolidated her status with her portrayal of Charley in A Single Man.
As said, favourite MOVIE ever; Amadeus. I don't watch it often, as it has a strange power over me. It makes me laugh, it makes me cry and every time I watch it I am left in stitches, as a good movie should do.

Interesting list! Did you ever see Marlene Dietrich in Witness For The Prosecution? >>

Not yet. Many argued that it was her best performance, I intend to find out
I love what you said about Amadeus it doesn't give me the same affect as it does to you, but I completely agree with the sentiment that a good movie shouldn't be one dimensional.

Movies are personal, like music. It's the combination of the music with the performances and the sets that do it for me with this movie. It's lush in both emotion and detail. Love it. >>

having covered most of these people's work, i'll say:
Actor: Max von Sydow, Hour of The Wolf.
Actress: Liv Ullmann, Face To Face.
Director: Ingmar Bergman, Persona.
and you've got to watch Mamma Roma from Pasolini if you haven't yet Aisha.
a flawless drama with a brilliant performance from Anna Magnani (you'll especially enjoy her when she loses her temper, and she's got a very short one mind you )

Ya'll, it doesn't necessarily have to be a "fave" movie, just something you think its universally accessible as far as your fave actor/actress/director are concerned and would like to recommend it.

I only watched that last summer. I didn't realise Scorsese was so versatile! It's such a different genre than what you'd usually expect from him. Same with Shutter Island. I wish he'd step out of his comfort zone more often.

Well, I've talked about my favourite film too many times on here, so I'll go for another one that was my favourite for a while (I'm fickle by nature)
Peter Greenaway's (director) 'Prospero's Books'
I dont' have a favourite actor or actress but recently thought Tilda Swinton was fantastic in 'I Am Love'

This is so hard, I'm obsessed with films and have far too many favourites, and I tend to go with phases, I could pick the more obscure type films I also watch but I'm just going to go with my 'frequent favourites'
Keanu sorry but I just love this guy A Scanner Darkly, Great film (even better book), do not get put off by the sci-fi tag because it's remarkably realistic (okay maybe not the scramble suits).
Angelina Girl, Interrupted. The whole cast were at their best in this film. The direction, cinematography and soundtrack are perfect as well.
Director is more tricky because I tend to follow a lot of directors. I'll go with Darren Aronofsky today because I'm always interested in what he'll try next. My favourite film of his is The Fountain.
Honorable mentions.... Bryan Singer, X-Men 2 Tim Burton, Big Fish The Orphanage, watched it because of the G.Del Toro connection although it's actually directed by someone else (Juan Antonia Bayona)

The Pillow book - Not JUST because of Ewan's peen

He truly is I suggest you to watch Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore starring Ellen Burstyn & Kris Kristofferson, the movie came out when "Mean Streets" mania was still fresh on people's minds.
That film along with "After Hours" are two of my FAVE films by Scorsese. [Edited 6/19/10 22:40pm]

I like versatile writers/performers/directors. This movie took me by surprise too. It's in no way Day-Lewis' best role ever, but he's one of the most interesting actors alive. And this role is sublime nonetheless. >>

Fave Actor: Al Pacino - "The Godfather" (Sorry to state the obvious but the man truly was a masterpiece in emulating the Michael Corleone character so much that I can't even imagine NO OTHER ACTOR playing that role )
Fave Actress: Angela Bassett - "Waiting to Exhale" (Sure the woman acted her ass off as Tina Turner in "What's Love Got to Do With It" but her performance in "Waiting To Exhale" made me feel her character's pain first hand...so much so that I was rooting for her when she burned her husband's clothes in his car)
Fave Director: Martin Scorcese - "Goodfellas" [Edited 6/20/10 17:13pm] I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
