I think being a realist and embracing are two different things.
I believe in encouraging our youth to wait, but if they wont I want them to make the right choices.

BTW I had to edit. That "don't" shouldn't be there. I do think being a realist and embracing are different.

There are many ways this can be accomplished. Subject your teenagers early on e.g. to the following things:
WOW
Chat rooms
Death in June
Richard Dawkins
Enochian
Linux
Endless assurances that it's okay to be different

funny thing is you never really know about sex until after you have sex
just teach kids to be safe and responsible
cause their going to do it anyway
That's exactly the point. the dumbest thing would be to ban sex before marriage. how could young people know if they're sexually compatible with their spouse then? Is there any place of refuge one can flee from this insanity |

Taught my son... no job no pussy. He is sexually active now, but I encourage masturbation over sex with a partner. He waited until he was 18 to start having sex... which is not great but hey, he found a job and a great girl. Until then I encouraged him to "take care of his needs himself" with discretion.
Like BB said, teens have raging hormones and many parents think that masturbation is a disgusting pratice, something that is a deviation from the "norm" so masturbation is out of the question. This is why teens have sex.
Heck this is why single adults in the church have sex outside of marriage as well.
The prudes of the world encourage kids to seek their own sexual needs in the worse way possible becaue the have issues with their daughters spanking their monkeys and their sons jerking off.
heck, when my daughter is old enough, Imma tell her the same, and point her to the 24 speed hand held shower head I own. It'll save her a lot of heart ache and foolishness because she will not fall under a boy's embrace because her clit is jumping.
My very honest opinion.

I have to agree with that point... There is nothing like the real thing... Its like eating a piece of fruit when I really want chocolate! Yes, it may have satiated my hunger, but DAMN i reallyyyyyyyyyyyy love chocolate!
Well in our ciscumstance, many buys I spoke to agreed with me. Boys who masturbate tend to wait longer to have sex. Boys in my family usually start having sex at 13 with older girls because masturbation is considered unholy. My son waited a bit longer, no it isn't the same true, but it does curb a need to focus on other things.
So, are you saying that those guys who are having sex in their teens hadn't been wanking before they had sex? I've never known a guy who hadn't wanked many times before getting lucky with the real deal. Interesting. |

Encouraging virginity is tantamount to encouraging the backdoor route, or anal at least.
Anal sex in the name of purity
Seriously though, education is the key, rather than following the brainwashers with their abstinence pledges.

Me too. Young people should have all of the information in case they decide to be sexually active, but they should also know that waiting IS an option.
Too many people assume that every single adolescent is burning to have sex and some kids feel pressured by that attitude...they need to know that there's nothing odd or weird about abstaining. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise. |

When girls cracked jokes in high school, I just brushed it off (hell, most of 'em got two kids by now, so I guess I got the last laugh). If I do happen to tell a friend, which isn't often, they're usually pretty supportive, though. Hanging with supportive, like-minded people is a good thing. Supposedly too much butt fucking in women can tear their perineum and lead to them shittin' out their arses. Heard that on a sex show once. Not sure if it was Dr. Drew or Sue Johanson who stated that.

ORG QUESTION OF THE DAY:
So why are we so quick to embrace the notion that teens will fuck for the sake of fucking rather than encourage them to maintain their virginity until they meet a worthy lover and potential life partner? With all the diseases, teen pregnancies, children raised by single parents, children living in poverty, porn addiction, lack of intimacy, sexting, and people who have a hard time maintaining relationships...wouldn't it make sense to encourage virginity and relationship building among this next generation?
DISCUSS.
With the exception of "sexting", all of the above have been occurring since the dawn of time. This debate can't really go anywhere. Christians worship the product of a teen-aged un-wed pregnancy. Not all kids have sex as teens, but some of them who do, either get pregnant or get someone pregnant. That's life. Being unrealistic about life can't help anything. Teach them about the importance of "safe-sex" and hope for the best. As parents it's all we can do.

Actually, it's true. The anal mucuous can, effectively, be damaged by anal sex. Besides, the "entrance" can get torn, as well.
Damages in the perineum are not that usual...only if one gets it on the ass on a daily basis.
In the hospital I go to, there was a woman who had...a plastic bag instead of a perineum, due to anal sex. Hard to explain. And yeah...she shitted all over herself.
So, all in all, anal sex is NOT healthy. Besides- and according to many since I've never experimented it....I'm unidirectional- it hurts the hell out of a woman.

I remember....it WAS Sue Johanson who echoed anal sex was bad for women. She said that the perineum could get damaged and that the shit would travel out the vag. She was seroius too! Something about least path of resistance.
Most women I know don't like it except for this one chick I met who only likes it. Then again...she is rumored to have a loose pussy. Talking double car garage with enough room for a boat.

No, what I was told is that boys and girls hold off on sex because they got one off before a date.
It worked for me, and it worked for a few men I know in their teenaged years. This of course may not work for everyone, this may even encourage more sex.
But for my son, I taught him about STD's, good products to use for sex, how to treat women, etc. And I told him that it was OK to masturbate, in order to learn his own body so that he wouldn't learn his body with a fertile horny girl. He's doing well, and on the right track so far. So, that route worked for me.
