Anyone live in a country where it is legal to smoke pot?

Just curious, I thinks it's legal in Amsterdam. Was wondering if anyone lives where it is legal or the police just don't pay any attention to it?

If you're not doing the fucking, then you're taking one.

When I visited Vancouver, Canada a few years ago, Pot was smoked openly in cafes in certain area of the city. Not sure if they enforce the ban these days.

I used to live in California, USA. The cops caught me a cpl of time with stuff and I never got a ticket, they would just make me break my glass and ditch the pot I had on hand. Not that that happens all the time.

I'm sure it's even softer on it now over there it seems. I was dumb and moved, it seems to be the hardest state on weed besides NV. Friggin LA is HARD on drugs...it seems at least. They'll put U in the slammer for a vicodin if U ain't got a 'script.

but they'll sell U a Johnny black on the rox, tripple, through a drive thru.

This state seems to lack some logic.

It is not legal in Austria, but people don't hide it too much when they smoke.

In Trinidad where I have been living too and where pretty much everybody smokes weed police pays much more attention to it and our car was searched 2 times for weed in the half year while I was there. One time they were pretty rude and the searched me too, asked me all kind of stupid questions and they threw all the things I had in my purse on the floor disbelief.

With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

Smoking maryjane is not illegal in several states of America IF you have a perscription from a physician. Washington, DC just passed its allowance for medicinal marijuana. Damn, and I moved out of DC 20 years ago! lol Hell, if I lived there now, I'd be sick as a mofo and up in the doc's office pronto! lol

That's Trini for you. Meanwhile the police are taking bribe money, and letting the crime get worse. Isn't , my country just GRAND!!

I know that the police officers smoke pot with the inmates in prison and all kind of stories like that . And I saw drunk police officers drive police cars and do illegal hunting myself.

As I understand it, growth, posession and use in Canada is technically illegal except through government-licensed distributors for doctor-prescribed medicinal use. There apparently haven't been much federal or provincial finance and attention given to this area of oversight, though, so marijuana law enforcement in many parts of Canada doesn't really bear teeth. Arrests and prosecutions still ocassionally take place for dealings outside of these parameters, but not much comes of them unless there is some link to large-scale trafficking, violence or underage possession/use.

That said, certain local jurisdictions do handle weed in more intentional and varying ways, and both the values of those communities and the individual user's sense of decorum play a big role: If you and your homies go prancing past a cop, surrounded by ganja clouds and laughing loudly in a retirement community near, say, Tweed, Ontario, you're gonna get busted. smile On the other hand, share a joint with a friend or two while quietly minding your own business in a Vancouver café, and there probably won't be a problem even if a cop sees you.
