New Mortal Kombat movie coming in 2013? new test video on Youtube

http://www.latinoreview.com/news/mortal-kombat-fans-this-is-the-hard-r-mk-movie-you-ve-been-waiting-for-10164

Mortal Kombat is a movie franchise that has been missing one thing - the blood and guts that we all loved from the video games.

Now it looks as if we're going to finally get the rated 'R' reboot we fans deserve. Kotaku has the first look at the Mortal Kombat test video shot for Warner Brothers to get funding for a full blown hard 'R' MK movie. Yes, this is the direction they plan on going for the Mortal Kombat reboot. And I've got the exclusive goods on who played who.

The short was directed by Kevin Tancharoen, who did the remake of Fame last year. Judging from this short, Kevin is the perfect director for this movie. Jacks is played by Michael Jai White. Michael played Spawn and was in Undisputed II. Michael makes a great Jacks (Jax). Sonya Blade is played by Jeri Ryan, who played Seven of Nine in Star Trek: Voyager. Baraka was played by the very talented Lateef Crowder, who plays the Brazilian fighter in Undisputed III. Scorpion is played by Ian Anthony Dale. Ian plays Kazuya in the upcoming big screen version of Tekken. Johnny Cage was played by up and coming martial arts sensation Matt Mullins. Still working on who played Reptile. Will update when I find out. The fight choreography was done by Larnell Stovall. Larnell did the fight choreography for Undisputed III and is one of the best fight choreographers in the business. You want to see the fights you deserve? Then you fans should DEMAND he be the guy in one charge for this reboot. Click HERE to read the exclusive interview I did with Larnell. I know who might be playing Sub-Zero, but don't want to mention it in case it screws something up. He'd be perfect for the part.

It looks good and all but I think they kinda ruined it. I mean really? Scorpion is the main guy, Johnny Cage is dead before the movie begin, Liu Kang is no where to be seen, Baracka, Reptile, and Scorpion are citizens in the U.S. rather than being how they originally were in the story. They ruined a lot. ike I said it looks good but ... sad

It looks like it's gonna suck already...

I grew up playing the MK games at the arcade, and there was none of their special moves in this clip at all, i at least expected Johnny Cage's shadow kick in his fight scene, and Baraka looks absolutely nothing like he does in the game.

Why do they even bother doing this shit? It's already been known that movies based on video games suck. lol

I THINK I JUST CREAMED MYSELF.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT DUDE.

I don't know how I feel about Baraka's hair situation, but God knows it's better than that dollar store mask they used in Mortal Combat 2.

THIS CLIP IS FIYAH

look people... they DID the "follow the original game plots" and then immediately dumbed it down for the PG-13 rating. This is a straight up R, just like Mortal Kombat SHOULD BE.

No aliens, no otherworld dimensions, no cyborgs... just a bunch of sick bastards that like killing people for FUN. I don't mind the "mystic" element for Scorpion. I enjoy how they're trying to make it a little more "plausible", but you need just a touch of ninja magic and some ol Chinese Alchemy for Shang Tsung.

Also, Johnny Cage was always a distraction, and by getting rid of him and putting Scorpion as the "hero," you add tension and suspense. You don't know who is really going to win! And if Scorpion wins, who REALLY wins? Jax is being portrayed as that Vic from The Shield kind of cop, and Sonya Blade is that cold ass CIA agent. THERE WILL BE MURDER PEOPLE. AND WONDERFUL MORTAL KOMBAT GORE!!!!

So belly ache all you want about "this character doesn't look like they should" or "the Older Brother Sub-Zero was actually a good guy" or "Melina was an alien" arguments. You know what... go fire up MAME and play the games again. Remember why you played: the Gore, the Violence, the Ninjas, the ACTION.

Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another

This was much better than that Street Fighter clip that was floating around...

I'm gonna be upset if Sub Zero doesn't do his Fatality move ripping off the opponents head with their spinal cord attached lol

This looks fucking sweet. All it's missing is Kano and Liu Kang.

Sometimes removing signature moves for the sake of the movie is a good thing. I mean, watching Raul Julia flying through the air in the already terrible Street Fighter made it many times worse. Special moves done wrong of film look cheesy.

See also: Ken's weak as uppercut in SF, Sonya's Leg Grab in MK, Liu Kang turning into a dragon in MK2

Yeah I enjoyed the first movie but 2 felt it was even below a direct to DVD release. It looked like an extended episode of the series or something.

That's the biggest problem every company has when it comes to live action adaptions. They either don't put enough money in the project and rush the production, in turn, resulting in a crappy movie or they put a crapload of money but then take away the aspects that made the franchise so popular.

I've talked about it before, but one of the worst adaptions, along with Street Fighter, is Dragonball Evolution. Fox did a bit of both problems I mentioned. The didn't put enough money in the project and rushed the production but they also removed key aspects of the franchise

They went from this

to this

It barely made $10 million here lol

I love the theme songs sounds better than the English version. As for that dumbass excuse for a movie, I didn't even bother with it. I knew it was going to suck. The fact that they made Goku go to school convinced me otherwise.

It should be shown to any director who wants to make a live action adaption of an anime.

"You wanna know what NOT to do?"

pops in Dragonball Evolution DVD

They made that movie on the same budget it takes to make an episode of Power Rangers neutral lol

Finally watched the clip. I liked it, but my only problem is with Baraka running around on all fours like he's an extra on Planet of the Apes. Other than that, I say make that shit a movie.

And why does nobody credit Lateef Crowder for his role in The Protector which actually went to theaters, unlike Undisputed 3?
