Favorite Restaurant, NOT a chain

I realize this is very local, but do you have a favourite restaurant in your town/city?

In Manhattan, I have at least 2

1) Benny's Burritos=been going there since '87 when it was a hole in the wall..cheap cal mex

2) Osteria al Doge-just off Broadway in Times Square-small, great for pre theatre, awesome food. make a reservation

how about you and your town?

I don't have a picture of it, but Sostanza's is my favorite restraunt here where I live.

Great food

Great atmosphere

Great service

Their desserts are to die for

mushy

Used to live in LA, and always thought it a treat to go to Killer Shrimp, which served, well, just killer shrimp. Seriously, I think the menu had 3 items on it, all variations on the name. It was fantastic.

I live in Columbia,SC now, and love a place called Hunter Gatherer--a variety of foods, generally locally grown, and the best original brews I've ever had.

My new job requires that I visit 10-15 restaurants PER DAY!! (no, nothing glam, just sellin' restroom supplies bored ) but if you're in SF one of THE FINEST places I've ever walked into is called BIX'S...

Overall, probably Barton G's in Miami South Beach.

It's pricey enough to be a bit above the Ruby Tuesdays fare lol

But not so pricey that it's completely pretentious.

All the dishes and deserts have a 'theme' so everything is fun when it's presented.

The atmosphere is hip and fun. It's just an all around great place.

My favorite current restaurant is probably this Chinese place I go to. Cheap prices, good food, no A/C lol, and everything is authentic.

Totally. Bombers is ridiculously awesome. They take flour tortillias, rub some apple preserves in it with some sugar, and cinnamon, roll them up tight, and FUCKING DEEP FRY THEM, then sprinkle them with more sugar.

faint

Yeah....that.

The Beacon.

Caravan

Burger Inn....for the peanut butter shakes. Pineapple shakes are pretty good too.

The Beacon was featured on that Diners, Drive-Ins show on Food Network.

I used to live in Columbia for a while, going to school. I would pass by that place, but never thought to try them.

Theirs this little cafe called 'Uptown Paradise' here in Milwaukee that I love. The food is always fresh, service always friendly, etc.

Theres also Jo's cafe, Yick Inn Chinese food, thats all in my area. I love going to hidden cafe's that hardly no one knows about where the food is fresh!

I'm in the mood for love...simply because your near me.
