This one is a tossup. I remember the Gimme A Break episode when the chief slapped the shit out of one his daughters for lying to him about smoking. Don't laugh at my funk

You actually remember THAT episode?
BTW, remember the (controversial) episode when Neil confronted the the late chief's youngest daughter for putting the blackface on Joey?!?

Benson was better written and more adult in its humor, also it was a spin off from Soap one of the best damn tv shows ever to grace the airwaves. The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

Benson. My best friend Jarrett has always reminded me of Benson. I still call him that sometimes when he says something sarcastic. "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

Benson. I used to love that show.
I don't think the other was shown in the UK.

Both shows were great but I like "Gimme A Break" more. Nell Carter was one of my alltime favorites. Andy is a four letter word.

I can even remember the episode with Shitney Houston before she was famous. She played one of Katie's friends and Katie was wanting to drop out of school and open up a clothing store. Nell told her, "That's it, no more black friends for you!". I saw the episode a few years later when it was in reruns and Shitney was a major star in the music world. I kept looking and looking for the black friend that Nell was talking about but couldn't find her. . . . [Edited 6/13/10 14:08pm] Andy is a four letter word.

Gimme A Break. It was in syndication in the early 90s. I used to watch it almost every morning during the summer when school was out. I loved Nell's character....reminded me of my aunt. I vaguely remember watching Benson.
For those with Netflix, Gimme A Break has been added to the Instant watch. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)
