Why do church bells ring at 12:45?

I figured someone on here might know this. I've been out of catholic school for almost 15 years now, and I can't recall the reason/symbolism for this.

can anyone clue me in?

Why do people get excited when it's 4:20? It seems stupid to me. I saw the worlds worst movie, The Ring, last weekend and the kid behind me got VERY excited when the clock in one scene read 4:20. The funny thing is that it actually read 4:19.

Sorry I can't help with the 12:45 thing, but as another sidenote a church by my college used to have a bell that played songs. You would be walking to class and you would hear the Star Wars theme (or whatever) coming from the church. It was quite odd.

Isn't 4:20 the universal pot smoking time...? Like somewhere around the world, a bunch of people are smoking at the same time around the world.
Don't know about the 1245 bell ringing.
