There's nothing more disappointing than attending a truly boring party.

So, I had this party to go to tonight. I was alll excited cause I haven't been to a good house party in ages! And I know the hostess a little bit, but not well enough to know many of the people there, which is usually a good, fun thing. Meet new people, etc. And I thought it had a fabulous theme. Party in Pink. Everyone was expected to wear something pink. (One of my signature colors when paired with black, and I pull it off damn well, thankyouverymuch.) So I spent the last few days pulling together my outfit, getting excited, helping my friends find something pink to wear. This is one of my favorite hobbies. I'll spend hours and hours creating the perfect outfit, hair, make-up etc. Don't get me wrong, I can be happy in a hoodie and jeans, but like I said, it's kinda one of my hobbies. Like stamp collecting, knitting, crossword puzzles, or what have you.

So at this point, after so much time is spent on preparation, I guess my expectations were just way too high.

The party was lame! I only knew a few people other than the people I came with, and as for the rest- suffice to say, it wasn't my crowd. Normally I'm an outgoing gal who can talk to anyone, but it just wasn't there for some reason. The majority of the crowd was underage kids getting wasted or smoking pot on the balcony. The rest of the people were sitting on the couch or chairs and barely talking at all. I began to get tired and yawn myself.

And worst of all, sin of all sins, the music was awful. In fact the poor hostess asked us if we brought any CDs when we got there.

I stuck it out for an entire hour and a half and even contemplated getting incredibly drunk just to amuse myself, then thought better of it and called my cab and came home. I hope the rest of my friends are able to make something of the night. I just couldn't try anymore. Oh well.

Well I was over in your neck of the woods and I didn't do anything special. I sat with my friend and chatted about the trips that he has been taking and watched Terminator 2 on tv, but it still sounds like I had a better time.

But I hear you about being disappointed. I was once told by a girlfriend that I build things up in my head where they cannot possibly live up to my expectations. I don't exactly think this is true about me, but I do understand how much it stinks to be looking forward to something only to have it suck.

Sorry you had such a lousy time. It's a letdown when a party you've been anticipating as being lots of fun falls flat.

At least you got to enjoy the fun of getting all dressed up and looking marvelous.

I actually had an opposite night last night. The last few weekends have been crappytown - I've hit the bad parties and totally missed the cool ones.

Last night was our friend's 21st birthday, and my housemates & I got all dolled up (it's been way too long since just us girls have hung out together, probably months in fact) and took the bus cause DDing sucks! The only shitty part of the night was while we were walking down the street, 3 cars passed by us - in 2 of them, guys started yelling at us, and in one of them guys actually threw beer bottles at us. Luckily they didn't hit us but it was still scary.

We arrived just at the right time (a little after 10) and more and more of our friends started showing up, including an ex of mine () and our former housemate whom we kicked out (double ) But by then we were pretty gone, lots of nice free alcohol, and feeling good too. The house was the nicest house I've seen in my life, well-furnished too, very classy - which is weird considering a bunch of college students live in it. I met a bunch of new cool people and had some interesting conversations with my housemates. As for the music, our friend Gabe busted out his piano-playing skills and blew us all away for a while, then somebody put on an Allman Brothers Band Greatest Hits and strangely enough we were all feeling that too.

After catching up with my friend, I heard the party got 100% better around 20 minutes after I left. (Why is it people in Mpls only go to parties AFTER they've been at the bar all night? You can pretty much count on the fun to start after 1AM...) I guess plenty of interesting people showed up that were much more our style, they finally got the 18 year olds away from the stereo and were able to keep Eminem out for the rest of the party. Ah well.

Anyway, my party this weekend was a club night... nothing but house music (four DJ's for five hours). I think I would have been worried if they'd asked at the door if I had any records with me.

thangs round here always get too damn crazzzy. ppl be taking home shit from the house, like the tv or microwave and there are so many gatecrashers that even the host dont know who any one is. ppl be lieing face down in a pile of their own vomit, or worse still in piles of other ppl's vomit. the toilet is in continually engaged so u got no choice but to pee in the potted plants. hmm maybe thats just me, the music dont flow and everyone be arguing what they want played.
