Doobie Brothers on What's Happening

Man...this has got to be one of my favorite What's Happening episodes where the Doobie Brothers was fixing to go straight up ape on that concert pirate aka Sweet Daddy from Good Times. The concert part is pretty dark, but it lightens up eventually. Shirley was a hoot!

Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?

I think someone on the org has an avatar with this little girl's picture on it. Another one of my faviorite episodes. Man, it's getting late I need to catch some Zzzzzz'z and here I am taking a trip down memory lane with What's Happening.

I actually had a "mini-crush" on one of those long haired dudes. I forget his name. But Michael McDonald sure could sing. Wonder what he's doing now. I keep forgetting, I'm not in love anymore..... I keep forgetting I will never be the same again!

Even though it was 30 years ago, I still remember the scene where Rerun got busted like it was yesterday.

GREAT show.

I loved the actor that played Al Dunbar. He played a character named Earl in another show, but I can't remember what it was. There was something really likable about that guy.

He was on American Idol last week, and he sounded better than just about anyone else on the show, IMHO.

Uh ohh! Where's SoulAlive? He's the org expert on all the cool stuff from the 70's! I remember this episode when it aired, too. I can also still remember when we actually had CASSETTE tape recorders; at the time these devices were muscling in to phase out 8-Track-Tape players lol

Yeah, he played "Sweet Daddy" on Good Times. It is my understanding that he has deceased from an Aids related illness.

I found out that Theodore Wilson was his name, and he played Earl on "That's My Mama".

He died at age 47. The rumor is from AIDS, but wikipedia says it was a stroke. Worldlingo says it was from heart related complications that resulted from open heart surgery he'd had a few years earlier.

I think the AIDS thing is just a rumor.
