Former USA football star has a go at Rooney

http://www.dailymail.co.u...-baby.html

What exactly does this have to do with sport?

Who does this shithead think he is? Just because he had a decent footballing career for a Yank doesn't mean he had conquered the world of football.

This again proves that Americans have absolutely no idea what football actually is about. Yes, they do have good training facilities, some quick and technically gifted players, but absolutely no idea about the sport itself and what it stands for.

I mean... trying to get a player sent off?! Forcing someone to make an illegal act for the sake of winning? What is this shit?

lol I won’t repeat what my son said.

It's Bad Sportsmanship. It’s in the media the Ref's and FIFA will be on the lookout now. They won’t allow the sport to be brought into disrepute on the world stage.

Bloody heck they finally brain washed me and i’m posting on a footy thread faint

trying to provoke a hothead into a stupid mistake is not a new idea in football.

i'm from England and this didn't bother me. it's just banter.

everyone's a fruit & nut case

It's a part of the game, happened in the final of the last WC with success and remember what a wind-up merchant Dennis Wise used to be. There's always pinches and jibes going on in a crowded penalty area before a corner. Rooney needs to have some savvy.

It's football. There are huge egos of all nationalities that would do ANYTHING to win. Materazzi provoked Zidane to react in the last World Cup. Cristiano Ronaldo argued for Rooney to get carded in their match last World Cup which resulted in Rooney being booted. Anything to win.

I'm not saying it's not a part of football nowadays - it unfortunately is. But Lalas should be an idol to the kids out there and if you read these words coming from a former star it makes you sad, doesn't it?
