The World Cup - Football / Soccer - Who watching in the US ?

Well not long now 11 June - World Cup starts the biggest sporting event on the planet ....Watched by billions of people around the world....

My question is How big is the World Cup 2010 in the USA ...is the hype getting you ready for the big day or do you not even know it's gonna start in days to come ?

biggrin

I am searching for some USA stuff for my little boy. He already has all sorts of England stuff.
Since he is half American and half English, I think he should support both.

wink

I have a feeling that I will be watching it.

Oh, I am an American watching in the UK.

I certainly hope this sport gets a sticky like hockey, basketball & American football.

I'll be watching. Go USA! woot! flag And while soccer was never as popular here as it is in the rest of the world, there are a lot more Americans who are interested in it thansk to having grown up playing it in school and other community activities. And after the USA got to the finals of the Confederation Cup last summer, I think more people are interested in seeing our guys succeed. Having said that, my feeling is that soccer will always be a niche sport in this country like hockey or NASCAR.

That is something I do not understand....if so many kids grow up playing Soccer, why aren't events like the World Cup popular in the US.

So many parents and children invest so much time into the sport. It is a shame that it is not popular on a National level.

I hope that changes in the future.
