You're right!

I definitely can't go! bawl

sigh Usually, they extend a show's run when it's been so successful. But I'm guessing that Denzel and/or Viola must have an upcoming movie to shoot because the initial run was less than 3 months which seems short. When I went in April the show was in previews but I already had tix to 3 shows for 3 days in NYC. pout

What other shows did you see besides "Fela" in April? I like the way they have Times Square set up now, with the bleacher in the square and chairs/tables. It's about time. I hadn't been in that area for awhile, because since I work in Manhattan, at the end of the day, I just want to get out. lol I could only take but so much of the pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

But I had a great time Tuesday night, hanging out with my two sisters. We plan on getting together more offen. When you come from a family of 8 siblings, you tend to miss each other, when you're busy working and doing other things in your life, but I realized how much I missed them, when we got together on Tuesday night. We always have one another's back. It would be nice if all 4 of my sisters, including myself, could get together and spend time just enjoying hanging out together, other than family reunions. As far as my 4 brothers, well, I catch up to them whenever one of them show up in NY. Life is so short, you have to learn to appreciate your family members while they're still here. There's just too much going on in the world lately, that makes me appreciate them more.

Anyway, I'm going to make sure I enjoy this summer doing fun/recreational things more.

Nice!

I've been looking for sandals lately, but I can't find anything that I like! pout

They either look like hooker shoes with giant platforms (this coming from someone who owns a bunch of them! lol), or they are those "OH HELL NO" flat Roman sandals. hmph!

Girl, I don't know HOW you guys do it as far as dealing with crowds of people all around you at ALL times. I can do 3 days and then I'm DONE! shake

But I do like how they have Broadway or is it 7th shut down for pedestrians. I stay at the Sofitel so I just walk 3 blocks over to the shows. I saw Fela, Race and Memphis. I added Memphis at the last minute and as much as I loved it, I woulda went to see Fences instead if I'd known.

Well good luck cuz I haven't seen ANYTHING that I just had to have since I saw these back in November. All the salespeople I talk to say this was an odd Spring in that there wasn't a lot of color or cute styles. I certainly didn't see much. pout

lol I've been used to that for years. You get used to telling people to gtfo the way when you trying to get where you''re going. Just kidding. lol No seriously, it's not that bad year round. In the spring/summer/holidays is when the sidewalks get more crowded. I work on the Upper East Side, so the sidewalks are not as crowded, but the car/bus traffic could be a pain in the ass. I try to avoid the weekends, because most express buses don't run on the weekends, which means I would have to take the subway, and I'm not too crazy about doing that. lol

It's surely not a boring city, that's for sure, and that is the part I love about it, but hate it sometimes too..it's a love/hate relationship. I like that it has a lot of culture here, and there is always something to do and places to go.

You guys prolly don't even notice the crowds cuz it's just part of everyday life. lol

I love to visit but I certainly couldn't/wouldn't live there even if I could afford it, which I can't. Do you watch that HGTV show Selling New York about the real estate market there? It's ridiculous how little $3 million buys you there. Hell, you can't even get 1000 sq ft in Manhattan for $1 million. shake

Home base in Michigan for most of the summer.

June: 5 Gospel Fest

Late July: One week in Las Vegas

July: Taste Of Chicago / African Fest - add on so mo' weight.

Middle of June: taking a fishing trip on the Miss. River. Riding down to New Orleans to see my brother and on to Flordia to see relatives and friends.

August: have tentive plans to ride to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

I hope whenever Jill Scott come to town or the area I'll go see her.

1. See, you'd think you could trust an officer of the court. Just turrrrrible! disbelief

2. Girl, do you ride??? I've always wanted to do Sturgis. But the thought of riding that far in the elements and bugs is too much for me. shake

lol

Yeah, for 26 years now. Some of my partner's have been bugging me to ride with them forever so, I think I'm going. I can't deal with the bugs an' shit flyin' in my mouth, eyes, and ears. On long trips I wear an open face helmet with the plastic shield guard covering my face. They don't ride the major highway to Sturgis which is cool but I told them you have to tell me about hotel/motel accomodations cuz sista may need to adjust her mindset... 15 cans of Lysol. We are only going to ride during the daytime.

lol Well, Manhattan is the most expensive borough, but Queens and Brooklyn aren't too far behind. Outside of Manhattan, a two-bedroom apartment can run from $1300 - $1,700 per month, depending on the location, and some places higher. Some of the younger folks who do live in Manhattan, normally share the rent, and that's why many of them can live there, but once on their own, often they move out to other boroughs or connecting states, because they can't afford it. If they can, I guess mummy and dada is paying it.

Most professionals/business persons/entrepreneurs who could afford the million dollar plus rents/mortgages in Manhattan, have the money to live in certain areas there. Other than that, most of the folks you see on their way to work, are everyday New Yorkers who don't live in Manhattan, and just doing that, going to work or either there to shop, have appts (i.e, medical, looking for employment, etc) or just being tourists for a day or too.

However, there are many rent stablized apartments in Manhattan. There are also many empty and new Condos built, that because of the state of the economy, are not being filled at the rate expected, like they used to about 5 or 6 years ago, because not enough people can afford to move into them. . Sad, when you see so many homeless from all walks of life and ages, out on the street, while there are many buildings with empty condos, that are not being sold. . Some, just a few, building owners actually allowed some homeless people to live in some of their uildings, by making a deal with the city to house them. So the taxpayers are paying for some homeless to live in some upscale apartment buildings. Desperate times I guess.

My sister and her husband moved to Pennsylvania and bought a 5-bedroom house there. Their mortgage is less than the minimum price of a 2-bedroom apt in NYC. Only thing, they still work in NYC, kept their 1 bedroom apt, and go home on the weekends. I don't know how they could take that drive back to PA every weekend, but I guess whatever makes you happy. lol

I'm taking the other half home to Omaha, NE to meet my family (should be INTERESTING!)

Working on the entertainment conference that happens every fall and learning the new CRM system.

Many visits to my sister and her chirrn in Charlotte, NC.

Other half getting ready for grad school and tests after tests.

Most likley taking weekend trips to Chattanooga, NC, Smokies, GA mountains, etc.

And more than likely looking for a new job - my place of employment is shutting down in November.

Lots of swimming and hiking and camping.

I'm gonna try to go to the Oregon Country Fair next month and the SF Org Invasion in August. Money and/or school might get in the way, we'll see.

I have a lot going on this summer!

* Just got back from a 10-day vacation in Corolla (Outer Banks) North Carolina.

* Going to a wedding shower this weekend for my brother's wife's son, who is getting married.

* Going to a baby shower the weekend after that for my sister-in-law's brother and wife, who are expecting their first baby.

* Going to a birthday party the weekend after that for my niece's 5th birthday.

* Going to my dad's family reunion and then a get together at my cousin' house at the end of July.

I probably am forgetting something. hmmm lol But it's going to be a busy summer.

RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
