40 years is damn long enough for anybody, yet alone a political power or celebrity couple, to be married.

What scares me is not that they've divorced after 4 decades of what looked like marital bliss....but the fact that the Clintons are still together! eek eek eek

If anybody shoulda bit the bullet it should have been those two.

Meh....Tipper prolly found some new dick. Al never looked like he was packin' much.

After what happen to her best friend (READ: boyfriend on the side) Vincent Foster, do you really think Hillary could ever divorce Bill, Honestly?

I know, it's a double standard because Bill cheated and all of his ex-girlfriends/hoes are still alive. But nonetheless, the Clintons are never breaking up.

Well with the Clintons, both have politics in common and are active in the current political scene. The Gore's on the other hand don't share the same activites. He's doing the global warming stuff and shes does her mental health foundations. Thus far it just seems the Gore's just grew apart and couldn't find the path leading them back together this time.

Not sure what could be so bad in their marriage to make them part after all of these years unless they haven't been happy for some time now, and this is an opportune time for them to part. I would like to think that if i was married to someone for 40 years, I would say "heck" I only got about 20 good years left on this earth and I'd just suck it up and stay. But I have no idea what the dynamics in their marriage were. Oh well I guess in the end before you leave this earth the ultimate goal is to be happy. So if this will make them happy and content, then so be it. I think Elizabeth and John Edwards have split also, but it is pretty clear why.

Seems like more and more couples are getting divorced after being together for 20+ years. My grandparents were together for close to 60 years and only death separated them. I wonder how many marriages in my generation will last as my grandparents did. Sometimes I think that marriages back in the day lasted as long as they did because both husband and wife sincerely needed each other to really survive and be successful. However, in todays world, you really dont "need" your spouse. There are so many ways to make it without being married. Oh well. Hope they both find happiness.

Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?

Why is this looked at as sad? As Markpeg said, people change and sometimes want different things.

So what if it was 40 years of marriage, why would that mean it is now just down the drain? It was 40 years of an experience they shared together and now they are both, apparently, mutually moving on in a supportive way.

Good for them.

they just never recovered from that awkward kiss during the campaign!

Yanno, I really wanted to say that on my FB website, but I didn't want to poke too much fun. But it definitely crossed my mind. Yanno they are looping the footage to the kiss over and over and over on the news.

Well I guess they really will abide by the whole "till death us do part". Hillary will eventually be widowed. Devil will come a knockin'.
